The Notmocombo — the real version is next door — the 460 is a venue for bands like Highway Drone and fundraisers for people like Kelly Pflug-Back who was sentenced to jail for her participation in the 2010G20 protests in Toronto. Draft is cheap at $ 4.50 and there’s generally a $ 5-$ 7 cover at the door for whatever group or organization they’re raising money for. Décor is black and white Asian themed graphics on the wall that appear to be leftover from its former life as a restaurant. There’s a small bar at the back decorated with baskets, a Barbie dressed in green velvet and a red paper Chinese lantern. Somehow it all works.

The 460 is very small. The stage is at the back, a few inches off the ground. Clean place with some cool murals on the wall. The crowd was mostly on the younger side(20s). There were some live bands scheduled the night I went but after almost two hours of waiting, I just left. Apparently there was an equipment mix-up. Though it did leave a sour taste in my mouth, I try to be fair and assume this isn’t what usually happens. I guess I’ll come back sometime.
