I decided to try this place out after my previous masseuse moved to a different spa. After showing up for my first appointment, I was informed that the receptionist made a mistake recording my booking and no appointment was scheduled. Slightly annoying but mistakes happen. I tried again and the next time everything was fine. Massage was good, nice location and spa, so I decided to re-book. Hours before my next appointment I received a call advising me that my masseuse was sick and they had to cancel my appointment that day. I rescheduled and everything was fine. Then for my next appointment about a month later, the exact same thing happens. Masseuse is sick or something and they have to cancel, again. I asked about available appointments for the upcoming weekend and they tell me nothing is available. If you are going to cancel last minute, at least try to accommodate another time that works for me. So I’ve now had three same day cancellations of appointments in 5 attempts. It may be a fine place, but too unreliable.

I will NEVER go back here, and seriously discourage anyone else from visiting this clinic. So I’d been having a very rough emotional, physical week(I have fibromyalgia and was breaking up with my person), and booked a massage here because I have benefits now(woohoo!) and they take direct billing and Dylan has great reviews. I did enjoy my massage from her, although I didn’t think it was superior. After my massage, however, I was informed that the direct billing didn’t go through. But I didn’t have any money to pay them. The massage therapist was upset and we stood there awkwardly(in front of others who were waiting) while she asked me repeatedly to pay another way, and I told her repeatedly«I have like $ 40 in the bank account until I get paid next Wednesday.» This was quite humiliating. After noting that she had just provided me a service for which I wasn’t paying(this was also embarrassing), we agreed I’d call the insurance provider the next day and try to figure it out. The next day, I spent a couple hours on the phone going back and forth between Manulife and this clinic, and the problem couldn’t be resolved. Both said everything was fine on their end and couldn’t figure out why the direct billing didn’t go through. Finally, the insurance and Swansea talked to each other, but it still couldn’t be fixed. Beverly called me from the clinic to say that the clinic had done everything they could and that they required payment. I told her I was being paid in 3 business days and asked if she could wait until then. She replied that if I didn’t pay them in full or leave a surety that exact day(which I didn’t want to do as I was in heavy physical pain, as well as the pain of the breakup), that she would file a report with the police. I couldn’t believe it! Call the police, on a client who can pay you in 3 days, and who you know has insurance because you just spoke with their insurance provider, and who’s non payment you know is a result of an error on behalf of the clinic and/or insurance provider? Unbelievable. When I expressed incredulity at this, she«reminded» me that the clinic is «not in the business of providing services for free.» I said, «But are you also not in the business of being flexible with your clients who are experiencing a problem beyond their control?» She replied by asking me, «Who’s responsibility is it to pay, Shauna? Ours? The massage therapist’s? Who?» I told her she was being quite rude and to go ahead and call the police and I hung up. Of course I called back 20 minutes later and just paid them out of my rent money. I had to borrow money from a friend to pay my rent. Lucky me that I have people to borrow from, but unlucky me that I ever went here in the first place! I will say though, that the receptionists were helpful and kind.

I went here for a massage when I couldn’t get rid of a pain in my back with time alone. I had never really had a massage before, only once previously years ago and in another city, so I didn’t really know what to expect. I did love that I could make my appointment online though. When I got there, there was a very nice little waiting room and I was offered lemon or cucumber infused water which was lovely. The only slightly strange thing was that the waiting room chairs not only faced away from the main desk… but towards the wall. Maybe the attempt was to create an area isolated from the business section for optimum relaxation? That’s the only reason I could think of. I found it a little odd. My masseuse was very friendly and explained what I could expect from the massage I had chosen — the Back Pain Treatment. It involved seaweed being laid across my back, which was interesting. The whole process was very relaxing and enjoyable, I felt a little like jelly when I was leaving. I thought it was a little strange that she didn’t ask more specifically about the pain I had(just a general question of «lower, middle, or upper back?») and that she didn’t concentrate more on that area. Unfortunately, the next day I felt the pain again so the massage hadn’t fixed it. Maybe my expectations were too high. I was a little worried when I was putting my clothes back on because I still had oil on my skin from the massage, again due to lack of experience I’m not sure if that’s the norm, but I was worried I might ruin my clothes. Luckily I didn’t. All in all, it’s a lovely facility with lovely staff. Since I don’t frequent spas or massage clinics, I can’t really compare and contrast, but I was generally happy even though it didn’t fix the problem I went in for.
