3.75 star, but as this is the first review, let’s get it started on a good note. Ordered take out tonight. There’s a list of entrees listed under«Family dinner» for mostly $ 6.50 a dish, although there are some that are $ 8.00 as well. These entrees, at both price points, come with rice and a drink(soy milk for us) and in Chinese, there’s a notice that says that if you buy two or more of these entrees, you get a free side of veggies as well. Had: Slice beef and bitter melon — Lots of bitter melon. It was bitter, but not overly so. I have a thing against sliced Chinese beef because they tenderize it so much that it doesn’t taste or feel like beef anymore, so I don’t eat it because it isn’t my thing. Some people don’t mind that stuff. That’s fine with me too. I just had the bitter melon. This has a black bean sauce. Big portion. Salt and Spicy filet fish — big pieces of fish thinly battered and served with chopped up peppers. I’m not used to my salty and spicy anything being this spicy. It was good, but surprising. King mushroom in egg sauce — Not so much egg sauce. Just really creamy fried/scrambled eggs. This was sooo good. Out of the three under«Family Dinner», this one was my favorite. I’m a sucker for really creamy smooth eggs like this. There was a good amount of king mushroom in there too. Portion was also quite good. Free veggies — bok choy. Really fresh bok choy. I haven’t had bok choy this fresh at a Chinese takeout place in a very long time. Dried shrimp and Vegetable w/Vermicelli($ 6.50) — this one wasn’t on the«Family Dinner» list. It’s under«Health Dishes». It’s a braised vermicelli with slivers of Chinese shitake mushrooms, little dried shrimps, and napa cabbage. It’s an entrée meant to be eaten with rice. That being said, I’d have no problems eating it without the rice too. Some people might find it on the blander side, but it’s delicious in a subtle, savory way. Also a really good portion. I will be back, as it is within walking distance from Yee Hong, and the food is cheap and fresh, the portions are good, and everything was quite tasty.
