Nice place with good food and tasty unique cocktails. The beer selection seemed a but week and was mostly Amsterdam brews(which I like but not for $ 8 a pint). We had the fried chicken in molasses with Kimchi which was very good. Steamed pulled pork bun we loved and the fried calamari which were good but probably ordered too much fried food for our own good. Our waitress was excellent and the patio was nice but felt a little cramped as the chairs att anointing tables would easily bump into one another.

Stumbled across this amazing cocktail bar. Only spent a couple hours during the early evening on a Friday but my take away is this place could be a regular haunt. The cocktails are delicious, well thought out and some are surprisingly fun with a high level of showmanship. The staff are well trained and obviously adept at customer service. Always smiling, always helpful on what drinks or menu item to get next. This house is definitely a place to be.

Great cocktails, but can be a bit pricey. Food is good, my fav is the fried chicken. Good place to grab a few drinks and catch up with friends

Fun lounge but was fairly low energy on Saturday at midnight, though I’m told it’s usually a lot more up beat. We enjoyed the cocktails and received good service. Atmosphere was easy and relaxed but felt a bit lacking in character and energy, especially after walking over from Fring’s.

Cocktails were terrible, you’re best to stick with a safe beer. There are far more worthy cocktail bars in the vicinity to spend your $$$ on. Feels like any standard sports bar or Earl’s but has visions of itself being far cooler. Instead of putting on the Raptors game, they opt instead to play a silent, black and white edit of Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. Bar staff wear suspenders and act terribly busy. Service is at best, aloof. I think they want to be a cool hipster-y haunt but their soundtrack of top 40 hits destroys that vibe. Basically, it feels as though they just don’t know what kind of bar they want to be and resulting experience is disjointed and unpleasant. Won’t return.

i’m not much of hard liquor kinda gal, Spirit House definitely knows how to make a mean Cucumber Basil Mash and an just a great Old Fashion. The food isnt that bad either, but this place a great place to drop by with friends and hang out. The servers and bar tenders are pretty awesome and down to earth.

I came to this place on a Wednesday night craving delicious cocktails and a laid-back atmosphere. I got exactly what I was hoping for. I ordered the English Therapy cocktail. I’m not usually a gin person but this drink may have changed me. We also ordered the Fries Mac & Cheese and it was decadent. It was like a poutine but with mac & cheese instead of gravy. I’ll be coming back here for sure.

One of the best places hidden away on the west end of Toronto. If you’re in the mood for great cocktails and a fantastic location to hang out and catch up with friends this is the place to be! Being a bourbon fan, this place makes the ideal old fashion that easy to drink and full of flavour. They have a great array of cocktails so if you’re looking into experimenting and trying new cocktails this is the place to go!

Lovely ‘speakeasy’ style cocktail spot. Very nice and well priced drink menu. Attentive staff.

Cocktails are where it’s at! Came here for drinks and was thoroughly impressed. Had a surprise birthday here last year and remember the service was top notch and accommodating for a party of 15. Paid another visit last week and everything was just as great. Drinks are served as doubles for the price of a single and are prepared as they should be with plenty of garnishes. I do love my gin and tonics, so naturally gravitated towards the Cucumber Basil Smash. Also the only place that can make a Pimms according to my friend. Didn’t plan on eating but ordered a sausage platter for the table $ 7– tasted great. Top marks for getting it right!

Yep another 5 star review. You might think I’m getting soft in my old Unilocal age but I mean come on… It’s the Spirithouse! As one of the original, true, cocktail bars in the city, they’ve won my heart by having the best Old Fashioned in the city. There I said it. And I dare you to disagree(try it first). It’s the perfect balance of bourbon, simple syrup, ice, and bitters. Most often other attempts at other bars either use too much bourbon, or add too much syrup or worst of all added too much bitters. The Old Fashioned is such a simple classic cocktail but with that it is so simple to mess us, even I can’t get it right at home. Heck they even get the type of glass and ice perfect. I’ve had the food here and it’s pretty good, but never the reason I choose to come. Plain and simple it’s all about the Old Fashioned. Best in class

Spirit House never fails me when I need a stiff drink! The venue is like a fancy basement-ish type which is my fave set up because it’s dark and secluded, vampire vibes :) The service is a bit slow but the drinks make up for it all. The bartenders and servers are very knowledgeable, the selection of liquor is one of the best and biggest in the city. Any type of legal spirits you can think of, you will find it at Spirit House but sorry no moonshine… I already asked haha. I’ve had a few different types of drinks here! It’s generally more pricey here than other places because you usually are getting 2oz or more of each spirit in le drinks and what’s cool about this place, you can mix and create your own drink if you are very specific or like to taste something new and funky, if it gets too funky, the server will be there to suggest mild alterations to your creation so it’s somewhat drinkable haha List of drinks we had: Old Fashioned($ 14) Manhattan($ 14) Hemingway Special($ 12) Park Avenue($ 17) Triple Black($ 13) Park Avenue was my fave, I love dark liquor! Drink is pretty strong but oh so good, it has Aged Reserve Rum, Amaro, Premium Italian Vermouth and Vanilla. We were getting pretty wasted so we decided to order some food. I never had Churros($ 6) before so that was a must order, it was too sweet for my liking, 4 – 5 medium size pieces, it also came with caramel and chocolate sauce to dip in. My friend ordered Fried Chicken($ 15) he said it tasted amazing, 12 spice blendwith bourbon molasses hot sauce with peppercorn ranch dressing on the side.

Again another place I have only ever come for late night drinks and to chill with friends. A bit on the dark and mysterious side when you walk in it is a perfect place to have good conversations over a range of scotch based cocktails. The staff are really passionate about drinks here, plenty of knowledge in scotch and will recommend a drink for you when asked. Do still get much of the usual King West crowd here but still a great place to pass by for a drink.

This is one of my favorite lounges in Toronto. It is expensive, located in basement, and pretty dark inside. It has couches, tv’s, and tables for small or big groups. The reason why I come here is for the drinks. Most of the drinks contain 2oz of alcohol or more and it is all relative to the price. The cocktails are unique full of flavor and kick! The food is wonderful and the service is impeccable. Parking is right across the street and make sure you come here in your Sunday dress or fancy suit if you want to fit in with the«cool kids.» If you are like me and prefer fancy drinks while lounging in my jeans and graphic tees its all good too! Spirithouse is a great place to chill out and make some business deals or catch up with friends and tell some funny stories! I highly recommend coming here at least once for some great drinks!

Great place. Awesome selection of booze and bartenders who know how to mix the cocktails and bring you the drink you are looking for. If you are in the neighborhood and are looking for a bar that offers more than your traditional offering of beer and basic wine — this is your place. Spirit House is highly specialized in making custom and craft cocktails which will make you wonder why you’re drinking anything basic. It’s truly an art to have a drink made by a bartender who has hand pressed fresh juice and takes as much time as needed to create a truly unique beverage. This place is truly a hidden gem if you are in Toronto and are looking for quality drinks or a great bar with a terrific atmosphere. Plenty of seats and quality waitstaff at this establishment in the heart of the fashion district.

I dedicate these 4 stars to the Cucumber Basil Smash(es) I consumed, the best freakin drink(s) I’ve had in ages! This cocktail was so delicious and refreshing I feel like I could start every morning off with one of these bad boys. Before you make any rash assumptions, please note that this bevy tasted like something that came out of a juicer. When I encouraged my man friends to try it, one said«This makes me feel pretty!» and another added, «This tastes healthy!» So yes, even the bearded boys in my posse enjoyed the wonder of the cucumber basil smash. The vibe in this place is super neat too, it’s got that old style charm and although it looks like it should be pretentious, it really isn’t. The service was great and I found everyone to be quite friendly. I also enjoyed the denim and suspenders the servers wear. It was a little railroady, which I liked. I did not like when one server called me «ma’am» but I quickly forgave him as he was kindly letting me know my jacket had fallen on the floor. Even though Spirit House serves sliders and poutine, it’s a little more upper scale so be sure to dress the part. Did I eat anything? Nope, but I’d like to. The food looked and smelled amazing, so I will most certainly be returning sometime in the future. Bartenders, please have a Cucumber Basil Smash waiting for me.

Overpriced mediocre drinks with an uppity King st vibe. My date and I figured that this place was far away enough from King street to avoid the yuppies but we were dead wrong. Service was slow and the bartender seemed irritable and was not friendly. Let it also be said that I’m no hipster, but this place was just full of pretentious office jerks. That’s a matter of personal taste, but if you’re like me, avoid at all costs. With that said, the place itself was pleasant, the bar looked great, and I guess the glasses were nice too? Someone else’s review put it well: it’s made to look expensive but it feels cheap; fake. The place was packed, which is unsurprising for a weeknight between 5 and 7 so had to stand, but we didn’t end up staying long. Having seen positive reviews on Unilocal,we figured they would at least mix a good drink. We started(and finished) with old classics; an old fashioned for him and a sazerac for me. We figured we’d try how good their classics were before moving onto something a little more fun, but were utterly underwhelmed. The old fashioned fell flat and the sazerac had no character, we could barely tell them apart. Generally, I don’t mind paying a little more for a good, unique cocktail but the two cost us about $ 38 with tip. I don’t see how classic, basic cocktails could cost us nearly $ 20 a piece, and they weren’t even that good! Severely disappointed in this place. The crowd was not my vibe, the drinks were bad, and the prices outrageous.

You won’t find me around King W very often. I don’t have blonde hair extensions. I’m not trying to pick up a banker. I don’t want to pay $ 13 for a gin and tonic and more for an actual cocktail. But sometimes I have to choke on my own hatorade and realize there are exceptions in every hood, and SpiritHouse is one such exception. The ambiance is fairly typical of this area, dark and lounge-y, but it’s what’s inside this typical skeleton that makes it special. Work brought me here last night to help support a charitable event, and it was a great party, but event or not I feel like I got a great sense of the place. Excellent old fashions. Delicious poutine(I got it sans pork) and the fried chicken. Holy crap the fried chicken. Huge chunks of boneless chicken fried to perfection with a little kick. Get it get it. PEPPERPOINTS: Fried chicken. Fried chicken. Fried chicken.

This review of SpirtHouse is based on my «Happy Hour» before 7 pm experience. SpiritHouse, you had me at $ 2 oysters before 7. The shucked oysters were just so fresh and the house made condiments were quite good. However, I do prefer the simple freshly grounded horseradish and a dash of lemon on fresh oysters! $ 7 for double mixed drinks was A-OK. Gin Gin Mule and Greyhound were both refreshing, just like home made pop but more flavoured. I don’t really feel the alcohol that much even when those were a double! Sitting at the bar if you are alone definitely a lot better than at the tavern like tables. But if I ever drop by with a big group, I want to chill out at those comfy sectional sofas which has more a lounge like vibe. Custom Flights of their huge collection of whiskies and spirits are available. And of course for beer lovers there are also some seasonal local beers from Mill St and Amsterdam. I would definitely be back before 7 to enjoy more $ 2 oysters… a cocktail or 2 doesn’t hurt either.
