Spectacle

I’m a big fan of the Queen St location of Spectacle, so I was surprised to stumble upon this new location in the Distillery. I was even more surprised that this location was kind of a letdown! The selection is extremely limited here. It’s a reasonable space, but I’d estimate that they are carrying about a third of the selection of the Queen St store. Maybe even less than that! There is really only one wall of frames, and two smallish display cases. The staff seemed friendly, but they were assisting other customers, so I wasn’t able to ask if they were just getting started on stocking the store. Perhaps they will be adding more options soon? Well, of the stock that they have, it’s about evenly divided between eyeglasses and sunglasses. The glasses here are beautiful, very well made, fashionable, exactly the type of stuff you might want to wear on your face. There is a lovely range of styles and colors, I just wish there was more of it! They are pricey, but I do believe that the cost is justified here. But with the lack of choices at the Distillery, I’ll be heading back to the Queen St store before I make my final decisions. Worth a stop if you are in the area and want to see a small sample of what’s going on on Queen St.
