Signed up for a soccer league over the spring which had their games located here. If you live downtown this is not a half bad place to get your soccer in. Pros: 2 fields that are encased in a dome Cons: location is not optimal washroom is in a trailer First thing to note is that this place is located basically at Polson pier. If you don’t drive, getting here may prove difficult. I think there is a bus that comes down here but it is rather infrequent. My games were on Sundays and I never saw a single TTC bus around every time I went so there may or may not be service on the weekends as well. Soccer World shares it’s facilities with a golf driving range and beach volley ball courts. Soccer World is tucked away all the way in the back of the facility. You need to get through the driving range and then through the beach volleyball courts to get to the dome. It’s a little bit of a trek. The fields are encased in a dome so there are never any rain outs. It can be pouring and the game can still be played. The field inside the domes are kept well. It is artificial turf of course so be prepared to have those annoying black bits in your shoes at the end of every game. There are no washrooms inside the dome itself. You need go around the back to. a trailer. Yeah, not appealing at all. There’s a washroom back at the driving range, but that’s a pretty long trek and when you’re mid game, not very optimal. Even though the dome protects against rain, the temperature inside fluctuates a lot. Some games we were sweating buckets just sitting on the benches watching, some we were freezing and had to put on something extra even while playing. Also, if it’s raining, the dome protects you inside. However, the trek to the dome will probably leave you soaked before you even get there. All in all, it’s amazing to know there is a soccer field located downtown to begin with. If I lived downtown, this would definitely be a useful place for me. It’s not the best place, but beggars can’t be choosers.
