Sam the Chandelier Man

STAY AWAY!!! This place is a disaster zone! Besides the fact that «Sam» is an obvious hoarder (literally), anyone who steps foot in this place should be aware that within a few feet of entering the «store», you’ll be greeted by piles upon piles of junk; all of which has been sloppily tossed on-​top of other junk; Everything that’s visible is filthy dirty, and Sam really has no interest in parting with any of his collected’ stuff’. While looking for a simple piece of chain to match a fixture that I have (someone suggested I try visiting Sam’s store (who hadn’t ever been there)), I asked Sam how much he wanted for a chain I saw from the front window (which he had to reach for by using a stick with a hook on it’s end), he replied with a ridiculous price of $ 50.00, for a piece of chain that was only 42″ long. Then the sport offered to sell me half of it so that he could keep half for himself (21″), and went on to offer it to me for «only $ 30.00». Sam is belligerent, his store is something out of a TLC Hoarder’s show, and his inventory is filthy, dirty, garbage. I feel bad for what the owner of this property likely has ahead of him…

This store is quite something to walk into. Almost a shock to the senses to see so many shiny things in one small space, but definitely an experience. If one walks very carefully, one foot in front of the other, there’s enough room to walk maybe ten feet into the store before you hit a wall of chandeliers.
Almost every inch of visible space is crammed full. There are chandeliers hanging overhead, so packed in that it’s hard in many cases to tell where one ends and another begins. There are pieces of chain, electrical cord, crystal, and light fixtures covering the counters and floor.
But I suppose that means there’s a lot to choose from. Some of the more ornate pieces were $ 3200, some more simple chandeliers listed as $ 350. I have no idea if these prices are reasonable or not as I have never done any chandelier comparison shopping.
The owner was very helpful, if a bit overbearing (though since he was crammed into the same teeny space as us, it’d be hard to be anything but in our face). He told us he could have any one of a number of chandeliers ready for us innediately. We’re not buying, just yet, but this seems like as good a place as any to start looking when we are.
