I love Sally Beauty Supply so my low score is based strictly on customer service. The ladies who work in this store are not friendly at all… Not helpful and almost act annoyed when you ask them questions. I was looking at nail polish and they were hovering around me like I was going to steal something. It’s too bad. I don’t understand why people get into a customer service role who hate dealing with people.

I called ahead to find out if they had a specific product I saw on the website. They did not carry it. The manager said they have another jumbo triple barrel waver in another brand so I travelled out to The Stockyards to purchase it. I got to the store and lo and behold they do not carry such product. The manager was referring to a deep waver. Now if you are unfamiliar with these products you may not understand the difference, but this is a beauty supply store. They should understand that deep and jumbo do not mean the same thing. The words are on the front of the package. It doesn’t get much clearer. I was extremely disappointed since I had to travel such a distance to get to the store, especially when reassured by the manager that they carried the product I wanted. Lesson learned: TRUSTNOONE

Love buying hair dye and nail polish from here. So much to choose from. Need I say more?!

There’s tonnes of competition as far as beauty supply stores are concerned but Sally’s consistently manages to have everything that one would need, plus the quality of the merch is professional grade at reasonable prices so if you have the beauty know-how, Sally’s is indeed the proverbial shit. Given that I came in 10 minutes before closing, with a monster line-up at the cash and the fact that I had a mother lode of products to ring in, the cashier was still pretty cordial, which was surprisingly nice. I also scooped up some supercute«Sally Girl» mini lipsticks and mini lipglosses at $ 1.69 a pop… I cross my fingers and hope these über-cheap cosmetics weren’t manufactured by suicidal Asian factory workers or made with or tested on infant swine, all the while marvelling at their great moisturization and saturation of color with that hackneyed twinge of vanilla flavour. The patrons of this particular Sally’s consist of postpubescent Snook-a-likes sporting unseasonably unfashionable muk-luks and who have a penchant for using black eyeliner as lipliner, which definitely gave hubby a good chuckle. Tragic beauty casualties aside, give Sally’s a try to stock up on all those beauty essentials under one roof, all at an amazing price.

If you’re a MUA user( ) you’ll know that the Queen Helene Mint Julep mask is one of the best, cheapest and most reviewed face products you can buy. And so far the only place I’ve found it in Toronto is this store. Toronto only has two Sally Beauty Supply locations. There’s this one and the other is in Scarborough. It’s a bit of a trek to Keele & St. Clair, but worth it for a seasonal re-stocking of Mint Julep tubs and Ardell lashes(super cheap here). They also sell cheap beauty supply standards like salon hair clips(good for sectioning the hair while drying or flatironing) and Clairol Shimmerlights shampoo for highlighted hair(the best anti-fade/brightening product for blonde hair, ever, and very hard to find). Take the #41 or 89 bus from Keele Station(~8 minutes) to St. Clair and walk west a block through The Stockyards shopping complex. Or take the 512 streetcar across St. Clair(oooooh, syke — St. Clair is a shitshow due to construction! So just take one of the buses).
