Incredible store for searching out sheet music and scores. The staff was incredibly helpful and their selection of acoustic instruments was great ! The store has a very high class vibe to it. For the classical musician, I would recommend this over L&M for sure. Won’t have everything you’re looking for, but for their specialty, it’s amazing.

I came here a while back to get strings for my classical guitar. I was leaving town and needed a new set to practice with before a small performance I was prepping for. I went in toward the guitar section and all the staff members were super nice and made me feel welcome. I picked out a set of normal tension strings and was hoping to change them right there in the store before I got on the train. One of the staff members insisted on changing them for me which I thought would be an okay idea cause then he could clean and oil the neck of the guitar. This was NOT a good idea and in hindsight I blame myself for letting him touch my guitar. He used a lot of fancy equipment which was pretty unnecessary. The twists he made at the bridge were very loose and it was obvious they would untie especially since he was using normal tension strings. He then tied the strings very loosely(again) around the pegs and wait for it… cut all the slack before he even bothered tuning the guitar. I asked him what he was doing and he said it just looks nicer that way. As soon as he tuned the guitar, the strings came flying off. So he got a new set from the back and ended up doing the same thing. Don’t get me wrong, this is partially my fault for not properly saying anything, I just figured he’d know what to do. He cut the slack after tuning it. I left town and when I was playing the strings came off again. I was really disappointed. I changed them myself and it worked like a charm. So, my advice to any classical guitarists out there: don’t have the staff change your strings or adjust your guitar. If you’re a beginner just have your instructor do it for you and if not, just change them yourself.

They have a very wide variety or books, instruments, and accessories. The reason for the –2 star is because on several occasions where I visited, with intent to make large purchases, the store clerks didn’t bat an eye. They continued to chat among themselves and friends, while ignoring me completely. I don’t know if they ignore me because they don’t think a person who dresses in a polo and Levi’s with short hair can play music, but I am not about to tolerate such crappy service. There’s also a rude man, whom I take as a violin teacher there, that was… less than helpful. However, please don’t let my review discourage you. This is by all means, a fantastic store. Some staff are extremely nice and helpful. I sincerely hope that I just had the misfortune of meeting some bad apples. Otherwise, their prices are slightly over market price, but definitely cheaper than Long McQuades’. I suggest you go during a time where they’re not busy, so you can actually receive customer service.

I came here for strings and to get my guitar«fixed» before I could start playing. So that means, lowering the saddle and adjusting the trust rod. Brian was really nice and helpful. He’s also a chatty kind and up for a conversation if you’re looking for information about anything music related. He said the whole process would take about a week and they would call when it was ready. Four days later, they did call. When I went to pick it up, the guitar looked great. Also, they gave me a discount for being a UofT student. They also give UofT students discounts on instruments and other merchandise. So be sure to mention that!

Compared to other music stores for purchasing sheet music, Remenyi music is BYFAR the best. They almost always have copies of the standard methods, repertoire, and etudes books for all orchestral instruments and guitars, plus have a nice collection of musical gifts for all ages, as well as a fine selection of high-quality, but reasonably priced, guitars, bowed strings, and pianos. This store knows many of their regular customers by name, especially the long-time customers.

Went there to buy a mute for a violin. Good selection of bows, chin/shoulder rests and violins. Mutes come in 2 flavours and are cheap cheap. I paid $ 5 for one. The cheaper ones are $ 2 or $ 3. They also have a nice selection of sheet music and song books.
