I think this place is also known as the Fleck Dance Theatre. It’s in Queens Quay Terminal on the 3rd floor(take the escalator next to the Il Fornello). This used to be home to Soulpepper Theatre, but now as the name suggests, it is mostly dance here. The venue is small and intimate. Most shows will have 2 seating categories and prices. In my experience, it doesn’t make a big difference to pay more for the better seats. You will have a good view regardless, with the exception of being in the front and way over on one side. Also be wary of the first couple rows, because you are actually so close that when the dancers do pirouettes, you could get sprayed with sweat. I’m not kidding. There’s a bar on the 2nd floor, and space for art exhibits. There is also a quasi-dance studio area on the 2nd floor, complete with mirror and ballet barre, in case you wanna practice your own moves during intermission. There is no orchestra pit. Most performances here are to canned music, although occasionally musicians will play on stage alongside the dancers(for instance, in a flamenco show — Esmeralda Enrique Spanish Dance performs here annually). Don’t expect big special effects here, but you can get an up-close and personal experience with contemporary ballet, modern dance, folk, hip hop, etc. The programming is generally eclectic and interesting. Highlights to look for: ProArteDanza(contemporary ballet), Esmeralda Enrique(flamenco), InDANCE(Bharatanatyam), Toronto Dance Theatre(modern), and the annual Ontario Dance Weekend which is usually in January.
