Popeye’s is usually incredibly dependable and consistent. However, not this location. Spotted this new location a few weeks ago while down at The Beaches. Thought it looked like a cute place and always nice to see new places to eat in that area. Tried it tonight expecting the same level of quality and service found at every other Popeye’s I’ve visited. I was mistaken. Upon walking into the restaurant I was greeted by a terrible smell. An odor of foul water permeated the entire place. It smelled like old mop water. I forgave this because it’s a new location and maybe something unexpected had happened earlier in the evening, maybe not their fault. However, the loud volume of the radio was in their control and needed to be turned down. I overheard someone else say the same thing, sadly. The person taking the order was very nice, friendly, and appeared to be the manager. However, when the food arrived it was disappointing. The biscuit that came with the meal was either stale or overcooked. The macaroni side dish was congealed and only filled 1⁄3 of the container it came in(which was a blessing in the end); it looked like it had been sitting out for a while, definitely not fresh. I’ve never had either of these things occur in any other Popeye’s. Used the washroom on the way out(located in the basement) and it was apparent the foul smell was coming from down there. Washrooms weren’t the dirtiest I’ve ever seen but they were far from the cleanest either. Strangely, the urinals were positioned very high on the wall. I’m fairly tall(6ft) and it made it seem like I was going to the washroom in a fun house mirror. This is a new location, as stated before but the cumulative effect of all these aspects is that I doubt I’ll return to this place again. It’s just not worth it for the poor experience.

The worst order ever. Food arrived 1 hour and 15 minutes after I ordered it. The food was cold, over cooked and oily. I used to like Popeyes Chicken, no longer. Left a bad taste in my mouth and a dent in my wallet at 50.00 bucks.

This just opened on a Queen East a short while ago. I like to think they are still working through some kinks. The food took a while considering it’s fast food, but they made it when I ordered, so it was really hot and as fresh as fast food gets. I used to go to one in Vaughan, this location was much better. It’s very clean, and there’s a fair amount of seating. If you’re in the mood for fried chicken and you are in the area, this is probably a good place to stop.
