I’ve been going to Anna’s for a few years now. Before that it was primarily asian salons. Sure they were cheap, but it was a hit and miss when it comes to the cut that I want. Anna has consistently given me the cut that I want each and every time. I like having conversations with her and sometimes I even stick around after my cut to chat. She doesn’t open on weekends so it can be a challenge sometimes to drop by during the weekdays. She tends to be very busy too. This is a cash only barber shop.

Excellent haircut from a true barber. These places are a dying breed, use em while you have em!

Great cheap cut. It took a big longer than I’m used to, but it was a pretty slow day and we were chatting. Anna’s discussion topics also include cars, teaching, the weather, politics, and traveling. I’ll go back.

Amazing place to get a quick, quality hair cut from an experienced barber. I was actually about to walk pass this place, when I noticed an Elvis poster in the window which sealed the deal for me. I’m glad it did, since I ended up getting the best cut I’ve had in a long time. I’ve seen Anna once more since then and had such a great time chatting about Elvis that I almost forgot to pay. A basic cut will run you about 25. On the downside, the hours are a bit limiting(not open evenings or on the weekend) which means it can be tricky to get to if you’re not in the area regularly.

Anna’s Barber Shop in Leslieville is a funny little place. First, she only cuts men’s hair. As a man, this works well for me. Second, her hours are never really official. There’s no AC in the place so during the summer she sometimes doesn’t turn up. No problem, nobody likes to sweat. Also, can’t imagine chopping a sweaty dude’s barnet. What always gets me, though, is the topic of conversation while you’re getting trimmed. It’s always dark. Children dying in Africa, murders in Mexico, relatives going into palliative care. Never, «The Jays won.» Or, «Did you hear they’ve found water on Mercury?». Nope, it’s the first line of Michael Jackson’s «Heal The World» on repeat. «There are people dying.» But man, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t look like an anorexic Daniel Craig(in a good way) when I leave that place.
