Don’t be fooled by the really out of date logo and sign out in the front. The giant show room is actually quite modern. If you’re looking for décor and furniture that’s fun, retro, modern, unique and practical, this is a place to take a look. Maybe I was in a really good mood, but although we didn’t find our couch or buy anything here tonight, I found the store fun. The couches were moderately priced and actually not too bad construction-wise, just wasn’t what we were looking for. The showroom is laid out really well, like mini living rooms(or bedrooms everywhere). All the coffee tables where multi-level, with cool drawers, glass, etc. Their rugs are really cool too — textured and very colourful. That’s the word. There’s something about the show room that was very colourful and made me really happy. All the throw pillows(very over priced) matched the ‘room’ exactly. I also very much liked the giant oval red chair. Unfortunately there was nothing here we were looking for, and our home isn’t really of this style, but I do like there stuff(if that makes sense at all). Do not get confused with the Berkshire Furniture upstairs that is the complete opposite of Mobilia but shares the same showroom. The staff there was … how do I put this easily… not so bright — and kept showing us how many different configurations their couches are when we told her multiple times we do not like their couches(i.e. not comfy)(just pick with config you would like! I wanted to punch her) Anyway, worth a visit is all I’m saying.

The Mobilia furniture location I purchased my couch from is in Mississauga. Where to start? This has to be the worst furniture shop in Toronto when it comes to customer service. I read all the bad reviews online and still we went anyway thinking people had to have unreasonable expectations. As it turns out they didn’t. Should have paid attention to the reviews, that’s what they are here for. Mobilia delivered our couch after 12 weeks. 3 Months. We had expected it to take 9 as we were told at the time of purchase. When 10 weeks rolled around we were calling everyday only to be told they had no idea where it was, when it would be delivered, and they could not compensate us for the delay. On top of this, they actually threatened to bump our delivery time, once we finally got one, if we called head office to complain!!! There really are an abundance of other great furniture stores in the city. King Street East is one of my favourites. We bought most of our furniture at an assortment of shops around the city and have no complaints about any of them. Steer clear of Mobilia.

I remember Mobilia being a decent furniture store with nice contemporary leather furniture back in the 80’s, but sadly Mobilia of today is out of touch with home furnishings and offers poor customer service. Their furniture is rather unremarkable, not very well designed, and not offering good value nor exceptional quality. There are a ton of great Canadian furniture stores in the city offering excellent excellent designs, good quality and customer service. Mobilia is pretty much at the bottom of my list for furniture places to shop at.
