These prices are ludicrous. 50−100% higher than other, ethical places in the city. Not sure how this place is in business. I saw common used CDs for $ 12. And new ones for around $ 25+. Records that go for $ 10 for up to $ 30. Avoid at all costs.

This is right on my way home anytime I cross the Don; I should pop in more often. As mentioned elsewhere, the store does often feel a bit messy. To me that is the hallmark of a good used CD shop. If you want neat and tidy, go to HMV. In the jazz section I did not really find a whole lot. Stock was pretty old. And what was there was priced like it was the 1980s – when CDs were close to $ 20 each. The new arrival used bin often has a lot of good stuff in it; I have found two must have jazz titles on a visit this year followed by zip on another visit. But even my finds were priced a bit higher than elsewhere. In short, I don’t really see this being a «destination shop» such as Vortex or Sonic – that is, you are not going to go out of your way to scrounge here. But, if you are out and about on the Danforth, by all means, stop in. Mike is really friendly(no snobbery anywhere in this store!) knows his music and is eager to chat about it.

Mike’s got a lot of stock, and may know his stuff, but this place is poorly organized, messy(at least a couple of Tim Horton’s coffee cups in the shelves) and dusty. It’ll serve the purpose, but I wouldn’t travel too far to come here. I much prefer Vortex on Yonge north of Eglinton.

Great records. Pleasant service. The exact opposite of Rotate This. Highly recommended.

If you are looking to unload your old DVDs for cash, DONOT bring them here. I went with a friend of mine recently. We wanted to take them to a place upstairs near the Carrot Common, which I can’t remember the name of, and unfortunately is no longer there so we went to Mike’s. For some reason, he let some very surly girl at the cash look at them instead of himself. She was very, very unpleasant — major attitude. She refused most of them claiming they had«marks» on them. All they probably needed was a cleaning because they played fine. My friend ended up taking most of them home and only netted about ten bucks and got pissed off in the process. The other place, which is gone, the guy was way friendlier and wasn’t as critical as this rude girl was. Maybe she’s a relative or something but she’s got one lousy idea of customer service.

A good neighbourhood place where they know their music. So far as I know, they still carry both new and used CDs, and their selection was good(for my offbeat musical tastes, anyway).
