Great selection of Italian products and the deli meats are fantastic.

This is a wonderful family-run grocery store that specializes in fresh produce, top quality meats and Italian food. They have a great assortment of dried pastas! Their prices are good and they will go out of their way to help you get the item you are looking for. I love this place!

I love this place for several reasons. First, it’s convenient. It’s right on the Danforth so easily subway accessible. It was also open on Canada Day and saved my life when I realized I was out of cream cheese I needed for a recipe. Second, the prices on various specialty foods I like to buy are way cheaper than other stores. Kerrygold cheeses are a couple dollars cheaper. Clotted cream is a dollar cheaper. Halloumi is a dollar cheaper. Third, even though it’s a small place there is a full service deli and butcher counter. This place is a neighbourhood gem.

Masellis is fantastic! I’ve called them in advance with specific meat prep instructions based on a recipe and they are completely amenable to preparing everything and having it ready for you that day. Not a lot of butcher shops will make this level of effort for you and on such short notice. They have excellent cured meats and cheeses and lovely dried pasta(my favourite brand). They also carry burrata, flown in from Italy, which is absolutely worth noting because burrata, as we all know is the best cheese in existence and not found many places in Toronto for consumer purchase. It’s small and unassuming and family run. It is really the customer service that makes it the gem that it is.

You know what? I love this little place. I love how they have products straight from Italy, I love the selection of meats and cheeses(which aren’t even that overpriced), I love the staff(all family, normally engaged in some kind of argument) and I love the smallness, the unassuming façade and the abundant fresh herbs and plants in the summer time. Maselli’s is also closeby to my house and has a few products that I genuinely believe you can’t get anywhere else nearby. The one downside is that the non-deli things(boxed and canned food items) are super expensive, but it’s that way at Loblaws, too, and they’ve got Galen Weston at the helm… so…yeah…I guess it’s ok.

I shopped at Maselli’s off and on for about 2 years. Recently, I seem to be going there for everything but soaps, paper products etc. The meat department is clean, they have the best chicken around, the steaks are amazing. I bought 2 a couple of weeks ago — the cost $ 14.00 for both of them. I bought steaks a bit further down the Danforth at a meat market — they were $ 20 each! There was absolutely no difference in taste. I have my whole family hooked on the house made hamburgers. Juicy, they don’t shrink and they are relatively inexpensive. Another reviewer mentioned specialty oils and vinegars, again, but they forgot to tell you about the almond cookies that they carry. Can’t get enough of them. You can also buy true San Marzano tomatoes here, not the San Marzano like!!, but the real deal. The prices can’t be beat, the freshness can’t be beat, and the staff are incredible — Bruno’s always giving you a deal on something. Love Maselli’s — would recommend it to everyone!

On Sunday mornings when i get my jib on to cook and don’t feel like going to the«Supermarket» I head over to Masellis. The butcher counter is stocked with pork, beef, chicken, veal and homemade sausage. I’ve never been dissapointed with the quality of cuts i get. I usually go for my Osso Bucco, it is reasonable in price, they constantly have sales on their T-Bones for bbq. If you love sausage try the hot ones fantastic! The deli has house made prosciutto that is excellent, 10 slices for $ 2.80. Mortadella, capacollo plus other italian cuts, also the usual suspects as black forest ham, turkey et al. They have some great import cheese., the best being the Burrata so creamy and perfect with some basil and tomato. The produce is always fresh and they have some hard to find italian oils and vinegars. One of my favourite spices they have sits upon the butcher counter and everyone should have it in their pantry. It’s a sea salt, pepper, rosemary, sage & garlic shaker of heaven. The name is Insaporitore Salamoia Bolognese, it has a built in shaker and i put in on all meat, soups, fish & veggies. U will love it. A family own business for years and the«boys» have really took the place up a notch and created a wonderful neighbourhood market. Not to be missed. A huge selection of pasta adorn the back wall., and pannatones at easter and christmas are in unique boxes different from what you usually see.

I had heard that this supermarket was one stop shopping for an inexpensive charcuterie plate. I can confirm that this is true! There is a nice variety of cured, smoked and cooked European style meat as well as a mix of aged, smoked, blue, hard and soft cheeses. Meats and cheeses can be sliced anyway you like and the operator of the slicer(who may also be the stock-keeper, purchaser and manager) is knowledgeable and encourages samples. I was told that this location used to hang their made on site salami and sausages but the health dept prohibits this now. That said, they still have homemade product if you ask. A few 100g slices of cheese and four 80g packs of assorted meats was around $ 15. You can also find an assortment of olives, pickled peppers, pearl onions, pâté and others sides. Of course this is a supermarket on the Danforth so there are a variety of other imported speciality items to try and at reasonable prices. I’ve not provided a 5-star review because the supermarket’s space is fairly small which limits some of the variety of items they can carry but you can still find all you need here!
