Leon’s At The Roundhouse

To start, the store and the items bought was fine. The problems are with the delivery. First we were told the old furniture would be removed, ifs fact all they did was put it outside, not what we were told at the store. The worst part is they gouged the floor and dented the new front door. I am pissed.

The location of the store is pretty good for the downtowners who don’t want to venture into the suburbs for their furniture buying needs. The store is quite spacious in size that offers a wide variety of reasonably priced furniture, appliances and electronics as far as I can see.
In addition, the store is located at The Roundhouse which is a pretty interesting place full of railway history. I wonder if the staff at Leon’s will be able to tell a good story like the staff at Steam Whistle. Perhaps Leon’s should offer tours as well to entice more people into the store.
I don’t usually shop at Leon’s, but usually come to this location because that’s where race kit pickup is available for the Achilles St. Patrick’s Day 5k. Leon’s is one of the many sponsors for the run and over the past few years have provided the oversized canvas bags to hold the race kits. Good advertising on the part of Leon’s!
I cannot comment on the Leon’s staff because I haven’t dealt with any of them during my short visit to pick up my race kit since I just make time to do a quick browse.
Perhaps one day I’ll just venture to the store to really browse and check out the abundance of furniture available. I’m sure it’ll make for an interesting excursion.

Previously I worked for this location. I quit when the appliance manager was replaced with a Russian woman who harassed customers to buy insurance until they left the store without buying anything. Eventually I had to quit because the above mentioned manager started insisting that we lie to our customers telling them that whatever product they were looking at was likely to break. I strongly advise against doing business with this location and probably this company.

Beautiful location, but what a shame. They are extremely not flexible on things, so being in store isn’t much different from shopping online.
Looking for a mattress, wanted to get one for $ 449 that was offered online but they won’t do delivery unless it’s over $ 498. With that little difference, it’d be nice to have just let me have it with delivery versus not buying from them at all.
Aside from that, the sales staff was ‘nice’, but kept trying to show me completely irrelevant deals that are totally not what I said I was looking for.

I had a issue with a purchase I made there (wasent the product itself) I was lucky enough to get Parker on the phone when I called the roundhouse. He was great! So friendly and helpful. Went above and beyond to help me out. I strongly recommend asking to talk to him if ever you need to deal with customer service at The roundhouse, he’s great!

Leon’s at the Roundhouse is a very unique and interesting shopping experience. They have re-​appropriated an old locomotive roundhouse as a furniture display room… very cool and unique use of the space while still feeling «authentic» in terms of the history.
I like much of their furniture here. I was primarily shopping for couches. As for couches, I find that they actually have very reasonable prices, perhaps almost on par with Ikea (or slightly more expensive) but for much higher quality. I found a nice modern couch here that I was very satisfied with. They delivered it for free too (although minus half a star for the delivery people coming in the afternoon when they were scheduled in the morning).
My saleswoman, Ellen, rocked. She was friendly and knowledgeable while not being pushy at all. She even remembered my name on my second visit to the store to actually purchase the couch. I felt very comfortable directing commission dollars her way.
Now I could see how one would have a negative experience not shopping with Ellen there. On my second visit, I was stalked by several salemen at about a 10 foot distance. I felt like I was in Jurassic Park being hunted by a pack of velociraptors. The one who approached could only be described as «creepy» and aggressive. Yuck. Thankfully, I spied Ellen who rescued me from the creepy velociraptor man.
Ok, and here’s what really earned my repeat business. They have a very well-​advertised 60 day price protection. Well, I looked online a few weeks after purchasing my couch and found the price was $ 100 cheaper. I thought, surely they’ll have a fine print excuse to get out of this, but nope. I walked in, found Ellen, and she was legitimately cheerful that she could save me $ 125 in total with the price change. Her manager had to process it which took a solid 25 minutes… you would think he was launching the space shuttle as long as it took.
Anyway, my overall impression of the Leon’s here is very positive. Their selection is modern and appropriate for apartment/​condo owners in terms of size. Ellen rocked as a saleswoman, although some of their other staff were really off-​putting. And with actually honoring the price protection, they will definitely get my repeat business.

This place gets 1 star because the actual retail space is fabulous. However, after the magic of the overal esthetic wears off, you are left with… ho-hum…the furniture.
My friend was shopping for a sectional sofa… nothing extraordinary or fancy, just a simple grey sectional with right side lounger section. Well, we spotted a few that were inexpensive with the appropriate dimensions for her space… yay! However, our glee quickly turned to disappointment once we spoke to the salesperson and were told that the sofas we liked, actually, most if not all of the sofas, were not available in any other fabric, footing or configurations than what was displayed on the floor. WTF??!
How can you not give people options?! It made no sense… up was down, black was white, wrong was right… I’m talking Bizzaro World people.
Our salesperson explained that the reason they don’t offer options is to keep the pricing down and ensure timely shipping of the furnitre, or some other BS like that… I honestly cannot say for certain what she said because I was in shock, still trying to process the fact that we couldn’t actually chose a fabric or configuration to suit my friend’s sectional sofa needs.
On the plus side, they do have a lot of TVs and some kick ass refridgerators and stoves… but even that selection is limited. However all of this was negated by another simple fact… wait for it…
THEY DON’T HAVE CUSTOMER PARKING!!! GASP!
Overall impression? Meh!

Extremely bad customer service. I bought a mattress from there and they have mentioned that if anything goes wrong to the mattress, then they would directly exchange it back with a warranty and blah blah blah.
It turns out to be crap and there are many hidden things. The customer service even mentioned that the sales people dont know these specifics and i asked why dont you educate them so that the customers would know about that. She said its not her job to do that. Was very rood and unprofessional and this would be my last time shopping there.

They have horrible customer service. Too many clerical errors and absolutely nothing was done to rectify them. I never want to back to this place.

This Leon’s is located close to the Roger’s Centre/​Skydome and while they win some points for great prices and stocking slightly more «condo-​sized» furntiure, the selection leaves a lot to be desired. I know taste is personal, but there is a lot of UGLY furniture here.
When I decided to buy a three-​seater couch, the service started off as just «meh, I’ve experienced better» and quickly moved into «Eek! Methinks not» territory. Of course, this wasn’t until AFTER I purchased the couch.
I was told by the customer service rep that they would remove my old couch when they brought my new one. I was very specific, I live in a condo building that does not have any place to dispose of large pieces of furniture and there is no where for them to «leave it» on the curb. They told me «no problem! we deliver to condos all the time, we understand your situation.» I was actually out shopping with my parents that day and they overheard the ENTIRE situation.
When the delivery folks actually showed up, they told me all they can do is bring the couch downstairs to leave on the curb (uh, I live on KING STREET and there is a pub at bottom of my building, you can’t just leave a couch down there). I immediately got on the phone with Leon’s and was told by the woman who answered that indeed, this is standard practice and they NEVER would have told me they would remove the couch. Except they did.
I asked to speak to the manager, I was told the manager does not take phone calls customers. I asked to speak to the rep who told me that the couch could be removed, and I was told he was not able to come to the phone either. My salesperson (different from the rep) called me back and told me that this is just the way it is. I complained some more and asked to speak to the manager. Again I was told no.
I later called and asked to speak to the manager directly and although they tried to give me the run around I told them I would keep calling back until I spoke to a manager. The manager finally came on the phone and although she apologized that I had so much trouble getting her on the phone, she backed up her staff and said «I think you misunderstood the salesperson» and she couldn’t do anything for me. Totally not pleased.
I happened to call my parents after this exchange and my Dad, quite annoyed on my behalf, went to the store to explain that he head the same thing to the manager who also was not impressed.
After a lot of hassle on the phone with these guys, feeling like I was mislead (or even lied to), and paying $ 100 to 1−800-Got-Junk to remove my old sofa bed couch — the great deal at Leon’s totally wasn’t worth it.
To further prove how awful Leon’s is at communication, I paid an extra $ 50 or $ 60 to get the couch treated so it wouldn’t stain. They never explained to me that someone would have to come to my condo AFTER purchasing the couch. And the guy from this out-​sourced company said, «Yeah, most people are surprised when this happens.»
I definitely won’t return to Leon’s and I advise you to shop there at your own risk.
