Oh Canada. Not your anthem you silly geese. Just Oh Canada. Interesting lil spot. I really can’t bash the place. The bar maids seemed ok enough and the entertainment was plentiful. Kind of like if Wal-Mart served beer. I must say I was rather impressed with the HVAC gentleman getting hammered at the bar while his two disappointed children sat next to him with their heads buried in a basket of food that looked like a five star meal if you were in his condition. Wish he could’ve stuck around longer but as he let everyone in the place know, he had to get out of there on the double. Return the kids to the mother who has custody? parole bracelet beeping and forgot about the curfew? Shit his pants? One could only imagine. Oh well, 3 stars is average and that’s ok. Passed an hour anyway.

Typical sports bar with a wide array of pub grub. Darker ambiance and loads of TV’s around. Daily features and Thursdays great deal at 5.99 for lb of wings with purchase of beverage. Good central location however for those that sit in the open front window beware of homeless and beggars annoying you, but great to people watch!

This place has a ton of televisions, even some on the ground. I ordered a kamakaze drink, my friends had the classic burger, a sandwich, and steak fajitas.(There aren’t many vegetarian options) Service is ok, but the food takes quite a while to arrive, and there isn’t a drink menu.

Recommended Dish: Tue/Thur ½ price wings special Reviewed during: Mon — Fri Lunch time Service Speed: 1⁄5 Cooking speed: 1⁄5 Food Quality: 4⁄5 Food Quantity: 4⁄5 Price: 3.5 /5 Cleanness: 3.5 /5 Repeat: Only if you like wings and don’t mind slow service. Probably one of the cheapest place for wings downtown. 2 Lb of wings will run you $ 12 – 13. But you have to a drink for around $ 3 with the wings special. They nickel and dime you for everything, $ 1 for the fries, $ 1 for the veggies… Make sure you order before noon, because the service /cooking speed is extremely slow. If you have willing to put up with slow service, the wings are juicy and quite good.

Easily the single worse lunch experience I’ve ever had… ever! Usually I’d let a few days go by before I write, but I was considering live blogging this like one other bad experience I’ve had. Here’s the short version. Group decided to come here and catch the first period of the Olympic opening hockey game. We understood it’d probably be a little busier than normal. This place was busy but not completely packed or anything. Here were the low lights: Took 30 minutes to take our order. We got there before the game started and joked that it’d be awful if our food didn’t get there until after the 2nd period. It turned out not to be a joke. 1 hr 10 minutes before food arrived. We only ordered wings/sandwiches. One of the orders were wrong. Someone ordered a wrap, and they informed us when the food arrived that they were out of wrap. People had to go get their own cutlery. The food was awful. Ice cold fries. They charged us for drink refills we never got. We all had to stay cordial and not get angry with the staff, but this was ridonculous to the n’th degree. Now I gotta go bash something. Go Canada Go.

Holy TVS! I’ve never seen a bar better stocked with TVs than this one! If I were there during NBA or NFL playoffs, I’d be in heaven. My sister and I enjoyed a countdown to the most epic MMA moment via a tv attached to the wall where our booth was. Servers were attentive, got got our orders quickly. They offer typical greasy bar food. Drinks around $ 4. Not bad. I don’t suggest it or urge you to avoid it. If you enjoy watching sports, munching on crispy salty grease and sipping affordable beer, it will be hard not to have a good time.

It’s the vanilla of sports pubs. while there is nothing particularly«bad» about it, there is also nothing great about it either. It’s one of the few places in the area to go watch a sporting event, so at popular really because it’s the only option.

Lots of TVs and food and beer options. What more do you want in a Sports Bar? We went there to watch an NBA game(nothing else on). We drank some local brews and ate wings and burgers. Not a bad way to spend an evening. I am sure the locals have much better options around, but I was not a local and was happy with the experience. Tip 1: The best seats appear to be by the road. It is sort of outdoors and you get to people watch. More exciting than most games. Tip 2: There is an ATM across the street if you need Canadian money. Ha.

Best beef dip I’ve ever had! Service was good, atmosphere is average for a sports bar. I was originally just going to have a beer but I’m so happy I decided to eat! I liked that they have the garage doors open so it’s kind of like sitting outside. NOTE: I watched a jerk beside me leave a $ 1 tip for a bill over $ 50. My god! It’s 2013, you would think everyone would know the drill when it comes to restaurants!

We couldn’t find any place with half price wings on a Thursday night and boy were we REALLY craving half price wings. There are places for half price wings from Sunday to Wednesday but the only Thursday place I knew of was Kelsey’s which is not downtown. So we stumble upon this place and they actually have half price wings! But the service was incredibly poor. There were so many TVs that it was actually kind of distracting despite it being a sports bar. The wings were small and consisted of mostly batter, the saucy ones hardly had any sauce but the fries and ranch dip were great. Would never come back to this place unless my cheap wing craving came back on a Thursday.

This is no where near a swanky sports bar, it’s got a sketchy feel just because it’s so damn dim and gives off an unclean vibe. So I would not recommend you enter here unless you want to watch sports. And it’s three stars because for a sporting bar I appreciate that Hoops caters to what matters to us sports fan, affordable greasy food and beer, decent service and many many TVs. But then they throw something in like karaōke which felt totally out of place here and there goes the chance to concentrate on a game. And those TVs could do with some HD quality upgrading. I would not come here for a meal, food is not that great but for a shared dish they do the usual nachos, wings decently. If I wanted a proper pubbing experience, I would check out the Pogue Mahone that’s close but to catch a game with 2 or 3 friends, Hoops does the trick.

This is your typical sports bar. TV’s everywhere, even mini ones on your table! Drink prices are okay. I haven’t had the food at this location, but I have at others. Yesterday, we ordered 2 Jagerbombs — Standard with the red bull And then I had a Whiskey Sour, which the server didn’t know what it was… I was shocked. But I told her it was just whiskey and bar lime. Then my bill came and it said whiskey sour, so I guess she figured it out. I’ve seen this location get super packed and people standing around outside to get a view into the TV’s, so if you do plan on coming here for a sports game. make a reservation welllll in advance.

I have been a very long term customer at this bar. I have been patronizing the place since the days it was called Wally Gators. I have cousins who frequent this bar even more then I, Lindsay and Leslie MacNeil,(many long-term staff would know them well) and I have always loved the food quality, the friendly people and the customer service that was so refreshing. I like chicken wing flats. really dislike the drumsticks. and this bar has always been willing to give me the flats. No arguments. So many places have excuses about«pre-portioned servings» and such and at the end of the day it’s basically saying that they won’t tailor an order to make you happy they just want it convenient for them. That’s not customer service, it’s Hobson’s choice. In any case, all of this has been great and I have never had a true issue until last night. I was there with 2 other people who have also frequented the bar and it was a karaōke night. I’ve been there many a time on those nights, but this time it was drastically different. The music was so ridiculously loud that all three of us couldn’t hear each other without yelling. We were at the booth almost beside the door which is NOWHERE near the stage. I was there first with just my roommate and he commented first and then my best friend joined us and eventually he just burst out with«Oh My God. this is deafening. I’m going to cancel my order in a minute.». I told our waitress, but she was new and was unsure what to do. I went to the bartender and she wasn’t very sympathetic and almost shrugged as if to say«it is what it is». Eventually we just got so fed up we called for the manager. At this point we had just began our 3 pints and were waiting on a food order. She came over and not only did she not apologize one bit for the problem, or admit that it was ridiculously extreme except to conditionally say«Oh well some songs are much louder then others. see this one isn’t so bad»…but yet we were literally shouting to each other to be even heard in this conversation! My friend who joined us last laid into her and said«Look, I work in a nightclub and Kendall.(me).is a singer/keyboardist that works bars. We are very used to loud music and we aren’t old fogeys, but this is bloody ridiculous. If you won’t even go and ask them to turn it down then we are going to leave and forget our order.». Her response was basically«Well I’m sorry, but this is Karaōke night». We left and ate at a nearby patio and we were still aware that we were half deafened for a good hour after it. We were yelling at each other until our ears came back to normal. This was inexcusable. There was absolutely no need for that amount of volume, the right thing would have been to go up and immediately have them drop the level. The establishment is a restaurant/pub that serves food and drink. It’s not a concert hall and truly deafening levels of volume are inappropriate. I miss the Newfoundland couple Sandra and Gerard who were running the place for many years. They just moved back and apparently the new management is not an improvement. Sincerely, Kendall Partington.

Let’s see, I like the place and I like the atmosphere. The staff is friendly and so are most the Canadians(in Toronto) that meet. Nevertheless, I food is a little bit smaller portion than I a used to. Say, today I order a Greek salad — Large for $ 10.99 + tax. The salad was not tiny nor it was the size you would expect for an $ 11+tax salad. Anyhow, I figured why not ask the bartender for some extra feta cheese since my salad looked vegan with hardly any cheese on it and the answer was a NO. This is how we serve our food and that’s the end of it. Take it or leave it. However, I was given the option to order something else but I was too hungry to wait. Last time I was here I was with a friend of mine and we ordered steak and wings, that was good. Spendie but good. I guess everything in Toronto is one arm and half a leg. For new customers, I’d say: don’t go there on an empty stomach :-)

I had a very bad experience here last year and promised I would never be back, and I have stayed true to my word. I went in and ordered the burger special but asked it it could be the veggie burger because I can’t eat meat, but the waitress said that the special was for the beef burger only. I decided to get the gnocchi and a soft drink. The gnocchi came and since I was watching sports on one of their TVs, I didn’t look down until I had taken a few bites. It was then I realized that there was meat in the dish. I called the waitress over, extremely distressed, and asked if there was supposed to be meat in the dish. The waitress said no, it was a vegetarian dish and looked shocked, and took it back to the kitchen. She came back a few minutes later with menu in hand, saying actually, there was supposed to be meat in the dish. I look and sure enough, chorizo is listed as the last ingredient in the gnocchi(I didn’t read that far, as meat is usually listed first). What could have been my error ended up being hers, as it was clear she didn’t know enough about the menu to tell if a dish was vegetarian or not, after I specifically told her I could not eat meat. I ended up having to take the rest of the day off work as I was puking my guts out. To add insult to injury, she brought a bill for the soft drink that was barely touched. I am giving it the second star because my brother and I came here on New Years Day 2011 because it was the only place open, and I remember the pizza being good.

The projector is comically bad… it’s so distorted that it looks like you need 3D glasses to watch it! The big TV is behind the bar. A lot of the TVs are lower quality, but overall you normally find a decent set somewhere. It really gets packed on fight nights, etc. Their meal and drink specials are actually pretty good. Food isn’t amazing, but it’s fine for the price. One of the places that actually turns on the volume during games instead of music. Overall, it’s a pretty good considering the lack of options in the area

Great place to go and watch a game! The food was definitely above average for pub fare, and the beer selection was excellent. Screens at every booth make sure you won’t miss a minute of whatever game is on. The service was great, and the pool table is a welcome distraction to keep you around after the game is over. Really can’t emphasize enough how great the service was here — some of the best I’ve ever had at a sports bar.

I like Hoops a lot. Hoops has great service, a friendly crowd and it is not to UFC if you get my drift. There are many TV’s, including at the booths and they have a lot of veg and vegan items available. The price is decent and the service is fast. Servers differ here a lot, there are some friendly ones, and some not so friendly but either way your food comes hot, the drinks are cold and you can watch Maury Povich or Family Feud while you eat Lunch! I like it, it could be brighter, it could have friendlier service, and it could handle having the server coming back for the check back and bringing over the condiments without being asked.

This place bleeds testosterone and there is certainly no shortage of TVs… so why the low rating? The food here is mediocre at best. I have been to plenty dives and sketchy sports bars and received way better food at a better price. So skip the food here which won’t be hard because the waitresses practically don’t exist. Order your drinks in clusters or a pitcher. As I recall their domestic and rail shots are pretty cheap.
