Quite unhappy with my experience here. I was unable to try on the shirt I purchased today, and due to a current time only«store wide sale» all purchases are not valid for the usual 14 day exchange or store credit(which I was anticipating from previous purchases). I do not like how the shirt fits and now I am stuck with a $ 52 dollar item that is useless to me. I was not informed when making my purchase that all sales were final– and if I had been– I would NOT have purchased it(due to the fact that I couldn’t try it on). This is poor service and I will not be returning.

I love this store so much. I live very close to it and walk by on an almost daily basis. Sometimes, if I have a special event and I can’t accessorize it properly, I run over to buy a new piece of jewelry and to get some assistance from the fabulous staff at the shop! They have clothes, jewelry, accessories, gifts, cards, bath & body products… everything is made by local designers and artisans. It’s a non profit cooperative, apparently, but you couldn’t tell from the store because it feels like a well curated collection. They also have occasional sales which are amazing! This is also the source of almost all of my gifts and cards for people. It’s a gem in the neighbourhood! The shop looks tiny but they take advantage of every inch of space. The stock is constantly rotating and the sizes can be limited so it’s worth stopping by frequently.

Over 80 local artists’ creations packed into this nice little store. Great gifts for bourgeois bohemians of all ages. Adorable dresses, cute cacti in unique vessels, cards, skin products, etc… Best of all I think is the overwhelming selection of jewelry from many different artists. I particularly loved the handmade and hammered silver bangles(~$ 145 range). Quite beautiful. This collective is not-for-profit and there are often the artists themselves working in the store. Even though I just picked up a small treat for myself($ 10 candle votive reminiscent of a tree trunk with a beeswax tealight — reminded me of recent good times in the northern Cali Redwoods) — the lady working there took the care to wrap it up for me. It’s the little things :-)

I really love this place. It’s a non-profit collective that sells the work of local designers and artisans. The clothes aren’t cheap, but hey, you get what you pay for. The staff are very friendly and the clothes beautiful. Everything I find here is a closet favourite. The only downside is that there aren’t many clothes here for us curvier folks. so I find myself sticking to tops.

Freedom Clothing Collective is a lovely little boutique. The staff are all-volunteer and the store only stocks hand-made clothing and wares from local, Canadian designers and artists. The selection is thoughtful, hip, eye-pleasing but also very functional. They’ve got up-cycled funky old 80’s sweater fabric re-worked into long gloves, patchwork pillows, antique porcelain jewelry, silk-screened tea towels, purses, and one of a kind hats. Vintage fabric business card holders and wallets, plus seasonal gifts like heart-shaped lavender-filled pillows, cards, and lots more. Many items I came across at the One of Kind Show in 2010 I already knew from seeing/buying them in this shop. The stock is refreshed weekly but items are limited so stop by often. Ladies, if you buy your clothing here you will never run into someone wearing the same outfit, guaranteed. I’d like to get everyone I know wearing their ‘I(bicycle silihouette) T.O.’ t-shirts. Sometimes they feature the paintings of local artists and I’ve yet to see an installation I did not admire(think: modern still life, religious iconography mixed with wildlife, etc.). I can’t emphasize this enough though; Gifts, gifts, gifts. Gentlemen, don’t be afraid, there’s stock for you too but more importantly, this is where you should gift-shop for that special someone.

If you’re looking for one-of-a-kind gifts or handmade wearables, the next stop on your list should be Freedom Clothing Collective. This small neighborhood store offers up a great selection of handmade clothing and gifts. Walking past the shop is often enough to draw passersby inside. While it’s not a huge space, they definitely make the most of it, with shelves and racks of amazing locally made pieces for you to check out. From silk-screened t-shirts to handmade dresses, you can find a very wide variety of styles available here, for both men and women. The other fun thing about this shop is the décor, with hundreds of other handmade items gracing the shelves, like jewelry and accessories, as well as some items that are purely for decoration, like a collection of vintage toasters. With a very friendly staff who are very knowledgeable about the items they carry, you can be sure to pick up something that is perfect for you or someone on your gift list. The best part is that you are supporting locally-produced, sustainably-made clothing and crafts.
