Best Butcher ever! Amazing service… friendly. …knowlegable. …helpful. Family owned and operated. Be sure to say hi to George and Roland. They even provided great advice and options for best ways to cook the meat I purchased. Anything from grocery stores is pure crap and tastes awful… once you buy from Ellas(a real Butcher shop with the freshest and beat quality meats in Toronto) you will never buy meat at a grocery store again. Totally amazing meat and people at Ellas!

You’ll stop buying meat at grocery stores after shopping here. We did. This place is a neighbourhood institution, and they’ve been in business for decades for a reason. George and Theodore are friendly and knowledgeable, and they’re the kind of guys who will remember your name and your order weeks after they last saw you. Once, they mistakenly overcharged us, and told us about it long after it happened — we hadn’t even noticed. They had kept the receipt, and insisted on refunding us. They’re also active fundraisers for Sick Kids, and hold a charity barbecue each year. But that’s just the business. The meat itself is phenomenal. We’re big fans of the natural chicken, the steaks, the everything. They purchase meat from the same farmers as luxury food retailers all over town, but sell it at reasonable prices. This was the first place we had Beretta Farms meat, and it was astonishing. They also sell cheese, including a five-year cheddar and fresh feta. And they sell pasta, rice, olives, and preserves. Every time I stop by, I wish they had a little produce or frozen vegetable section so I could just pick up everything I needed for a meal in one stop.

I discovered Ellas Meat Market a couple of years ago, and couldn’t be happier that I did. My mom is big on lamb, and knew, upon our first visit, that this place was legit. They have a supplier that provides them with younger lamb that are overall more tender and flavourful. This is a family operated business, and you can tell that both George and his dad Theodore really care about what they serve. The quality of service is always top notch, and they are always diligent in preparing and cutting the meat the way we like it. Moreover, they are just great people to chat with :) So friendly. Their line at the Taste of the Danforth is always the longest, because their Lamb Chops are to die for!
