Initial value is good but when it comes to supporting you down the road, they are a poor choice. This is where they cut corners and are accepting of substandard workmanship. Moreover, Downtown Flooring does not accept accountability for their mistakes. Beware.

4 month before we finally had our new floor installed our old floor had been destroyed in a flood. 5 floors above us there was a leak, and water(much like another substance that shall remain nameless) rolls down hill. We had been dealing with the contractors assigned to the job by our condo corporations insurance company and we were not happy at all. They were slow, unresponsive and if I ever manage to find them on Unilocal you can expect their review from me will be an earful. Now when the floor was first ruined, I went to Downtown Flooring(DTF) to ask for the replacement value of what we previously had. I was afraid the insurance company was going to tell us a 6k floor was worth 4k and hope we were too dumb to know any better. DTF was very helpful on the matter. They don’t like insurance company BS either. They quickly estimated the cost for me and I had an idea of my old floors value. Months later, after being jerked around by the other contractor(SERVICEMASTER — just in case I can’t find you on Unilocal!) we finally went to DTF and asked them how much it would cost for them to install the floor. They gave us a very respectable quote that was cheaper than the jokers who were originally going to fix our floor. So we went with them instead. They were originally going to do the floor over 2 days because we had to shift our furniture from one side to the other. But instead their super helpful installers moved all our stuff for us! I came home and the floor was done that day. That’s damn efficient, and super nice of them. Now it would be unfair of me to say they’ll come to your house and move your furniture for you if you really need it, but that’s what happened this time, and it was genuinely appreciated. Especially since it felt like they were making an extra effort to get some real floors under our feet instead of the bare concrete we’d been walking on for 4 months. That was that. The floors looked gorgeous and we were happy again. One thing to note, they themselves don’t deal with insurance companies. The reason being is they don’t know if they’ll get paid, and they’ve been burned in the past by insurance companies that have gone into receivership. I can’t say I blame them for that. Based on my experience with this company I would definitely go to them again should the need arise.
