For the past two years I’ve been looking for a good stylist with no luck. I’m very picky with my hair and have not been satisfied with how my hair has turned out with my last few salon experiences. I was way overdue for a cut, so through the recommendation of a friend I went to see Jenny at Donato last week. She’s absolutely phenomenal! Not only did she do an amazing job and give me a beautiful layered cut and style that I actually love, she is so nice and friendly and gives such good customer service that it makes you want to return. Finally found someone who listens and I trust with my hair and would definitely go back!

The manager called to explain how they charge per haircut. Even though I still think they should update how they present their prices to the public, I’m happy they took the time to contact me. I really have been satisfied with the service but always want to make sure I’m not paying more than I have to.

I experienced two services at Donato Yorkdale today(hair cut and pedicure). Five stars for the hair cut. I had Matt(a «new talent») and he did a great job! He was super nice and I am very pleased with the end result and experience. He asked me what my thoughts were about what I wanted, listened, and gave his input in a professional way. He didn’t just blow dry it at the end but also gave me some nice styled waves. I would definitely go back to see him. Also, the price to have your hair cut by a new talent stylist is a steal — probably the best deal in the city. Two Stars for the pedicure. Their price for a pedicure rivals Civello Aveda and is not worth it. The woman performing the service was very nice, and the reason I didn’t give one star, but everything else was lacking. There are two massage-type spa chairs located at the very back in what appears to be an after thought of an area(probably used to be a utility closet) sectioned off by a curtain. The paint and lighting in the area make for a dingy atmosphere and there was not a great selection of polish colours. Save your money and get your nails done elsewhere.

I get my hair cut by Tory, she’s amazing! She always does exactly what I want and she is the only stylist to ever style my cowlick properly.

I don’t go anywhere else to hair cuts and I’m too scared or don’t trust anyone else with my hair. I highly recommend Quynh or Raquel!

So I needed a bang trim and my hairdresser was away so after shopping around York dale I decided to go in Donato Salon… can’t go wrong with York dale… right? So I got my bangs trimmed by a girl she did a great job. I decided to give it another try when I needed my hair coloured and cut. So I made the appointment and went back. Ashley did my cut and then they informed me after the colouring and cutting is done by two different people they usually would have coloured and then cut but the colourist only had after my cut available although I booked a week in advance. So after the cut I went over to this lady with dark terrible hair she was extremely cocky and rude as well as looking like a drowned rat. She coloured my hair didn’t ask me any questions was just way too busy looking around and talking to other staff as they walked by, I asked her for just a few subtle highlights, I like being natural and my natural was a dirty blond colour. Two different times she walked away from the sink and asked me to hold on. She started washing my hair but then asked this guy to finish washing my hair. She said to him either there was still toner in or she had just washed it out but it wasn’t clear to him because he asked her what but she walked away. I assumed he knew because he put conditioner in my hair. So over to the hairdryer I go this guy was Philippine decent and looked very young but told me he was 30 and went on about how hair is his passion and it’s the only thing he’s good at. I told him having fine hair that he had to be a little careful my hair is not thick and dark like his. He was using a half broken blow dryer the back of it was missing and was being really rough with my hair when I started tearing from him ripping out my hair I told him loudly I would take over from there. The lady who did my highlights that was clearly the senior staff in the salon heard me getting upset and stood there like a deer in headlights but said she doesn’t blow dry hair. He picked up a broom and started cleaning as I was there blow drying my hair I was so angry and in pain I didn’t finish the blow dry, i stormed to the receptionist but I did notice the light blond colour of my highlights which was not what I asked for I specifically told her I don’t want to be light blond. I was leaving and the receptionist told me I’d have to pay and she’d get the manager to call me. When the manager called me which was a waste of my time, she excused this terrible experience and said the guy that blow ed and washed my hair was a student, The cut and colour was really over priced and 200 dollars later and a sore scalp that was that.

It comes off as a nice place but the hairdresser I had was just atrocious. I was left waiting for 10 minutes when the salon was quite dead. I came in wanting a new hairstyle and when I attempted to tell the gentleman what I wanted he told me flat out no to bangs and the cut I wanted. I paid 70 dollars for the hairdresser to do what HEWANTED and it doesnt even look different. It’s just shorter which Is not what I wanted. I will not be going here again!

My friend got me a giftcard to Donato as part of a present for being her Bridesmaid, so i decided to check this place out. Getting an appointment on a Saturday afternoon was easy! I booked one with Senior Level 1 Stylist Tiviana(sp?) She was running a bit late with another client and I was told to wait. There wasnt really a waiting area and they made me sit at one of the hair dressing stations until my stylist was available. Usually at the Mississauga location, you are offered a beverage and there are plenty of magazines to browse… not so at this location. After about 10 mins my stylist was free and did a quick consult, I had a few pictures i showed her and explained how I wanted to combine both the styles. She listened carefully and asked questions before giving me a quick«aromatherapy scalp massage», which really was a bit of a joke. But when she started cutting she listened to all my concerns and gave me EXACTLY the cut I wanted. She was super polite and funny, and told me what she was doing at each step and made sure i was comfortable with the length of the hair and the bangs. and exactly where she is goign to put in layers. Usually my problem with most hairstylists is their lack of communication about what they are doing, which leaves me a bit hesitant and anxious during my haircut and more often than not, a little indifferent or dissapointed at the end. I definitely recommend Tiviana @ Donato Yorkville for someone who will listen and then execute exactly the haircut you want. $ 60
