Crown Bar & Lounge

I can’t give zero stars. I never actually got to go to Crown Bar and Lounge because they pulled our reservation from us after we had booked it weeks in advance. We booked it with a Groupon and they basically told us we were getting bumped because of the groupon and we should «just be happy we were getting a discount». Apparently Crown Bar didn’t realize they are in downtown Toronto, where there are hundreds of bars and clubs I can spend my money at. I do not need to be treated like my business is not important because of a deal they decided to put on. If you don’t want people using Groupons or discounts at your establishment, there is a pretty simple solution to that — don’t sign up for groupons. My girlfriends and I will be finding another place on King West to spend our money.

I went with a group of 6. We were on a Groupon and was worried after all the bad reviews. We had not issues at all. There was a few times on phone when they tried to upsell us on the bottles, but we had no problem sticking with what was on the Groupon.
Our group arrived at different times and had no trouble getting in. We got a nice booth/​couch near the front. Our server was great! She asked if we wanted her to pour or if we wanted to do it ourselves. We opted do pour ourselves.
One thing was the appetizer that came with the groupon was very chintzy; but we were not bothered by it.
The club itself was more upscale in décor, lights etc. It is not a casual place, like 2 Catz. And not a low key nice ambiance of Brasaii. It was more similar to Cube, but smaller. The photos on their website is accurate enough that you get the vibe of the place.
We never had to use the bar, so I cannot comment on the prices or the bartenders. But I would assume the price of drinks would be on the higher end.
I would go back on a Groupon. But personally we all found the crowd to be too young. Lots of young girls with short tight dresses, big hair, lots of make up and sky high platform stilettos. You know the crowd! No really for us.
But using a Groupon we had absolutely no issues and we were treated well.

Again and of no choice of my own I ended up here for a friends birthday.
Maybe I was in a great mood already from having done much malarkying at the ROM and sampled too much red wine but by the time I got here at around 12am they were charging $ 10 cover which is much better than the $ 20 I got charged last time.
That combined with the slightly better crowd means this place gets one extra star.
Still would not be my place to go but the fact that there never seems to be a line up would make a difference in the cold winter months.

I was invited to an event at this locale. Never had been there before. Although I do remember going to the venue that was here before, so I was open to check it out.
The event itself was, well, smallish. However I am not here to rate the event but the venue. Unfortunately the locale looks somewhat nice but the vibe of the place is overpriced.
I know they try but there is something sleazy about this place. The beer is too expensive, but somehow the place does not seem to justify paying to get in and drink. I think that is best way to say it.
The crowd is young, however that is subjective to me, of course. However if I could use another set of words to describe them, I would use: club skank. You know the type, found both in men and women who seem too eager and try too hard to impress others. Cool is only cool when you don’t try.
Maybe try another night?

This place doesn’t even deserve the 1 star I’m giving them but I want to make it clear that me and my party of 10+ people really dislike this place and will make sure that everyone we know will avoid this place in the future! How is this place even in business??? My boyfriend bought a groupon for his birthday and get this… because he was a «coupon» he and everyone associated with him got treated like a piece of garbage. We had originally booked a booth but because we had the coupon it was given away to people who weren’t a coupon. The little table they gave us looked like something that was there for everyone to just throw their garbage on. I had people putting there nasty dirty hands in my ice bucket and actually witnessed a guy steal my boyfriends drink off my «VIP» table!!! When asked to speak to a manager 4 times this lady avoided us like the plague thinking that maybe we will just go away? So 160 $ we paid was for what? To be treated like shit? I was pushed and shoved got drinks spilled on me because my table was located right by the bar… the busiest place in the whole club!!! We never got the appetizers that were included or the second bottle that I payed for… we got nothing out of this experience but a spit in the face for being a coupon customer. Well I’m sorry my coupon money isn’t good enough for your club. Maybe you shouldn’t have Deals through these websites if your going to treat your customers like garbage. Big warning don’t go here these people are scammers and false advertisers. Save your money!!!

Out of all the clubs in Toronto Crown has to be one of the worst there is, it isn’t even worth the cover to get in.
We arrived fairly early so the club was bare and we literally had to stand at the bar for over 7min watching 6 bartenders stand around talking to each other. We were about to walk out when one finally wandered over and asked if she could help us to which I responded «I don’t know can you cause we’ve been standing here for 7min wondering the same thing» ?! So we were finally served but for this apparent «upscale» club they DO NOT HAVE PREMIUM BEER!!! WHAT!!! The service in generally was bad everywhere… the door, coat check, the bar… the only decent person seemed to be the bouncer.
We actually chose to leave, grab a bite to eat and a drink then walk back over after to see if it did pick up at some point but it only became busy after midnight and I think the reason it appeared to be was because the club was so small.
The music was bad at best, not only was the venue small but it was decorated with origami… yes you heard me right, PAPER! And lastly the crowd was extremely young considering they call it a «mature» club, very juvenile and when the venue is as tight as that one you can’t even avoid it by moving anywhere cause there’s nowhere to go!
Save your time, money and sanity… don’t go to Crown

Crown is a terrible night club if you even want to call it that.
We were so excited and heard all this buzz then we get there and it’s not that busy, fine we didn’t really mind but for a club that says mature crowd they are far off!
First the bartender says she’s out if beer when I could see it in the fridge so I tell her and she tells I gotta ask another girl because that fridge is too far for her. Are kidding?
Then as the night progresses they let a party in beside us late and they’re drunk and starting problems to the point where we’re about to leave and 1 smashed a bottle on someone from our booth.
Of course ambulance comes stuff is left at club and never recovered.
