Great location in the village. Fun times and good drinks. Check out some of they’re shows. Won’t be disappointed!

Okay, seriously, I have to sit and think about this. I’m tempted to say this is my new favorite gay bar in the world. I adored Amsterdam(in Phoenix) back in the day… but it’s been a minute since I’ve spent any time in Phoenix. It may not be what it once was. The Abbey in West Hollywood is spectacular on the right day… but man, there’s no shortage nowadays of trashy straight girls in stiletto heels appropriating gay culture for their entertainment, and it’s annoying as hell. Heaven in London is outstanding, but really more of a club than a bar. Yeah, I’ll say it. This is my favorite gay bar in the world. Totally modern and stylish, hot bartenders that are actually friendly(Pay attention, Abbey), delicious cocktails, attractive but smiling crowd. This place really is as good as it gets.

I so much appreciate Church on Church. My partner and I decided to get married in Toronto on the Saturday of Pride. After getting married, we decided to walk down Church Street during the festival. We were wearing«Just Married» signs. Also, three of us in our party of seven are ministers and two more of our friends are theologically educated. Two of us work for a church denomination. So it was an obvious choice to stop by Church on Church for drinks. When we walked it, the décor was really striking. A cool atmosphere. And they immediately brought us a free bottle of champagne in celebration of our wedding. We stayed for another round of drinks, and then continued on our way. I thought the move to give us champagne was really sweet. They weren’t super-busy, as most of the action was outside, but they were still pretty busy with all the customers. Their drinks are also great. Of course we like the names of the drinks: eucharist, or named after saints. We had some snacks, which were also tasty. Thanks for adding to our great day, Church on Church!

I have mixed feelings about church on church. I love the décor, they really made the space beautiful. The bench seating area is cool and the bar is also very beautiful. The staff are friendly but they seem to be weeded on busy nights. It can take up to 10 minutes to get a drink from the bar with people waving money 3 guys deep. That being said the bartenders do a decent job once you are able to get their attention. The place feels overly packed like a sardine can and you can barely walk through the venue its like an obstacle course. They charge a 10 $ cover on saturday nights as well which feels a little steep I would happily pay 5 but 10 is pushing it if i can just go to byzantium for free. Ill probably be back because this is one of the few nice places to go in the village and is a decent boutique club experience.

1st Review of 2013! Woot Woot! I came here on whim with some friends on Saturday Night. It was a «Crews line is too long. let’s go next door» kinda whim. But first, here’s some back story. Church on Church is the latest revival of what was known as George Play/Play/everything before it. Play was known to be a sketchy, dirty bar with not much going for it. It was small. Dingy. Etc. Nasty things have happened there yo. But the newer, church is actually pretty gorgeous inside. Lots of lounge space, and a modest dancefloor. Apparently they have food too. LOL like gays eat. Anyways, it was a pretty fun night. I will defo be going back sometime soon. NOTES: 1. Bathrooms are downstairs. 2. Drinks are kinda pricey for the village. 3. The next morning, my friends and I all had weird black stuff coming out of our nose. Our guess is that it was from the fog machine.

In the short time Chuch on Church has been open it’s been my go-to spot in the village. Their weekly events cater to many different people who are looking to have a quick drink after work or to dance and love and dance again. The interior is modern with rustic décor matched with an amazing new laser lighting and sound system. The highlight for me is the monthly party Communion hosted by DJ Alessandro. The owners Andrew and Chris are always approachable and genuinely take suggestions or feedback about their bar. I’d highly recommend checking it out!

This is the newest gay bar in the village and every time I’m there, I have a blast. The crowd is hot, the drinks are fresh and if you’re not into traditional Churches, this is the place to be. I think they have a small food menu now that you should check out.
