Carmen’s Design

My wife and I were looking for a Baptism gown for our daughter and we asked around as to where to go. Some of our friends suggested Carmen’s Designs for Children. The store is located on St. Clair Ave West in between Dufferin and Lansdowne on the north side. We were lucky enough to find parking on the street in front of the store, I found out later there is green P parking on Via Italia (1 street East).
There is also a streetcar stop that stops in front of the store as well.
Note there are 2 stores: Carmen’s Designs for Children and Carmen’s Designs (for ladies). I am reviewing the «for Children» store as I did not enter the ladies location.
I just wanted to say the store was beautiful and the selection and service were excellent. In these days of big box stores it’s good to see there are still smaller retailers that actually care and provide a great service.
We were served by Carmen (the owner) and it was a matter of letting her know our budget. She worked with the budget and we ended up with a custom made beautiful baptismal gown — a one-​of-​a-​kind!
Many people commented on the baptism gown during the baptism and we obviously told anybody who asked where we bought the gown. One person did mention how that store is too expensive. In response to that it is as expensive or as cheap as you want it to be. Just provide your budget and they will work with it. Just don’t expect a Cinderella gown at a Walmart price — let’s be realistic.
For anybody that is interested the store carries both clothing for girls and boys in all sizes. They carry communion, wedding and formal event wear as well. We will definitely go back.
