Caribana

If you can’t make it to any South American or Carribean country for Carnivale, then Caribana is as good as it gets. All of the colorful floats, great reggae, dancehall, and soca music. What’s not to love about scantilly clad women dancing down the street on a hot summer day. Just another reason why Toronto is one of my favorite cities.

Caribana is a annual summer festival of Caribbean culture and traditions. The major events generally occur over 7 days in the heat.
Tobago, Trinidad, Barbados and the music and food that flows from these cultures.

There are colorful floats, steel drums, dancing contests and food. Caribana draws hundreds of thousands of tourists to Toronto’s lakeshore.
Caribana is a Caribbean Carnival event, that has been billed as North America’s largest street festival, frequented by over 1.3 million visitors each year for the festival’s final parade.
I have followed the floats and also paid money and stayed in the VIP parade grandstand section.
I love the costumes and new sexy dance moves I am envious of. I cannot wait until 2009. I am going to dance.
