Cakes Cove has good reviews, so I went there. Their cup cake is horrible. They are old and expensive. They do not have seats or tables and it is fine. I feel bad because everybody else gives them a great review and I will not say anything more.

Ahh! I am so so happy this amazing place opened up so close to my neighbourhood. I found out about Cakes Cove at Video Games Live a week ago when they had Samantha up on stage showing off her Mass Effect N7 armor and M-​6 Carnifex heavy pistol made entirely of chocolate! (They are on display in a side room at the shop. So cool!)
The shop itself is just the right amount of nerdy mixed with nommy nommy sweets! There is a huge selection of delicious treats to take home, I had to limit myself to just a few. I settled on a box of the ice wine lavender shortbread cookies, a package of the white chocolate lemon orange citrus bark and a single pumpkin pie with cream cheese buttercream pi-​brid cupcake (made especially for Pi Day of course).
That cupcake. was the most delicious thing of life. Imagine a cupcake with the most scrumptious buttercream frosting and a pumpkin pie filling with a puff pastry pie bottom. I only bought one, but I wish I had purchased the whole case. SO. GOOD. The shortbread cookies are so buttery and yummy and great with a cup of tea, and the bark is sinfully good and I’m going crazy for it. Definitely re-​purchasing.
My birthday is in August, and it’s been years since I had a birthday cake, but Cakes Cove is giving me a reason to re-​instate that tradition!

The chocolate is delicious, the bacon chocolate chip shortbread cookies are perfection, and the staff is both friendly AND nerdy! Go for all your nerdy (and non-​nerdy) baking needs, and while you’re there check out the life size R2D2 cake. Seriously, it’s worth it.

We decided to have an Oscar party this year and with Cakes Cove established themselves at the base of our street, we decided to check them out ! Sam was easy to work with and she came up with an incredible cake with lavender ice wine icing! Thanks Sam!
