Super quaint little café located on the second floor inside the Roots Yoga/Totum Fitness building. The seating at this café is pretty limited, so it’s best to just pop by and pick up a little something to nosh on for takeaway. Food-wise it’s mostly breakfast and lunch offerings like quinoa porridge and wraps and sandwiches along with some goodies like cookies and brownies, but the best thing about Café Shu is that everything on the menu is healthy with a capital H and they try to use local organic and seasonal produce/meats and grains whenever possible. The café also boasts a fair variety of smoothie and organic loose-leaf tea offerings. You can also choose your options for bread, protein fillings and smoothies tailored to your diet restrictions(dairy/gluten free/vegetarian) So far, I’ve ordered the spicy(mildly so) chicken wrap with goat cheese tomatoes and greens and a strawberry banana pear smoothie made with almond milk. The smoothie was awesome and just the right amount of banana(I hate when my smoothies are too banana-esque!) The wrap(which was made fresh on the spot) was warm crisp and really delicious! My one grievance about my lunch at Café Shu is the pricing($ 14 bucks for a smoothie and a smallish wrap!!) but I will say that for the size of the wrap, every single bite was chock full of well seasoned chicken breast meat and was pretty filling. Definitely worth subsequent visits.
