Time of year to tidy up the storage space. Brought in antique accessories and silver items and was treated in an efficient and professional manner as a selling client. Everything is in writing — no surprises. As a buying client, it’s best to buy when you see it. I had my eye on some pottery and was waiting for another week for the price to drop — I lost the opportunity to have a matching set of flower pots. I enjoy the walk around the clean, neat premises, as it brings back memories. What a great place for gift giving!

VERY cool place! Prices are comparatively low(to boutique-y or downtown antique shops), which I’m guessing has a lot to do with the location? Anyway, the prices are very dynamic too. As others have said, if you fall in love with something, it is usually worth it to wait a while for it to drop in price. HOWEVER that can backfire too, as(others have noted this too) the turnover can be high. Happened to me with a covered dish in a china set I collect! Waited too long… It’s close to my office so I sometimes stop in on my way home. Staff are non-invasive, friendly and helpful — there if you need them, but they give you the space and freedom to just take your time, browse and enjoy like a museum(if that’s what you’re in the mood for instead of buying). Furniture, silverware, china, home décor items like mirrors, vases, ornamental statues, etc., some art, figurines, trinket boxes, etc. too. I found a great old schoolhouse desk once that I adore. They have bits and pieces of period ephemera up at the glass counters around the entrance area — a section I often get lost in for longer than expected — always worth a browse!

Looking around your house/condo, are there china set, glass wares, furniture that looks like it might worth something? Maybe your parent’s set of crystal wine glass worth a couple hundred dollars? Or that turn of the Century armoire which looks out of place with the rest of your furnishing might get you a $ 1000? Around The Block is the place that might answer your question or even help you sell those items on consignments. You can either email or come in with the smaller item or a photo for an estimate. Even if you have nothing to sell, browsing around Around The Block is definitely fun. Waterford Stemware, Bernardaud and Royal Albert China Set, Antique furniture and even some keepsake boxes and jewellery! Since the turnover of merchandise is really fast, definitely worth your while to come back and check often! The pricing is quite competitive, the longer you wait, the cheaper it might get but it might be gone by the time you decide to buy though…

I like this store and the people managing it. They are trying to keep prices reasonable to move the merchandise. A good variety of furniture styles. The new location is perfect. No trouble parking, close to the 401. You need to keep going back to check the prices, as they go lower. When its not there, its your loss!
