I have to say they do have very rude customer service. Especially the older lady at the front. But their cakes are great and I can suck up the attitude.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! As most of the recent reviews say, the customer service is terrible. They don’t return phone calls. They made repeated mistakes on our order and then blamed us for not describing correctly what we wanted, even though what we asked for is popular and made daily. Don’t trust them for any special occasion as you will end up disappointed.

Never again! Ordered a cake for a child’s birthday. People who took the phone order were rude and condescending. Waited 15 – 20 minutes on Saturday to pick up cake order. When they finally brought out the cake, the birthday number was wrong. They looked at me like it was my fault until they finally looked at the order form and saw that I in fact gave the correct information, and that the decorator made a mistake. There was no apology given and I had to wait an additional 10 – 15 minutes for them to fix it. While I was waiting for the cake to be fixed, I overheard the workers saying to each other that there had been tons of mistakes that day. Someone even came in to pick up a special ordered fondant cake and they couldn’t find the cake. They told the customer (who was frantically calling his wife to tell him the cake was missing) that they wouldn’t be able to make another fondant cake for that day, so he was basically out of luck for a fondant cake. After about 5 – 10 minutes, one of the workers yelled out that they found it. Turns out they put the wrong order form in the wrong box. There was basically no apology given to this gentleman. Finally my cake was fixed up and ready (after waiting 30 minutes total). Was not once apologized to or offered anything to compensate me for wasting my time. Clearly the staff have been trained her to not be friendly or go the extra mile to satisfy a customer. Says a lot about the management/​owner. To add insult to injury, the cake was dried out tasting (first time I’ve experienced this), and it was unanimous that a Loblaw cake would have been 100 000 times better. Lesson learned.

Navigate to the location to look into making a custom birthday cake for my daughter. Came in there was no greeting whatsoever and the lady that was there to help me was very rude. She seemed as if she didn’t want to deal with me to begin with. Then there was another customer that came in and I told her its okay you can go and help the other person first and she just kind of rolled her eyes at me. But then another lady came and she was much more helpful and pleasant to talk to. She was full of much more information and she gave me more of a field that she wanted me to come back to do business. I really would have to think about coming back here to do business.

Recently I ordered this Dora the Explorer marble cake for a very special three year old in my life. The cake was made in a peanut-​free facility, which met our nursery school requirement. All of the children seemed to enjoyed the cake very much, it was not too sweet (except for the Dora gel drawing)
Staffs were friendly and quick to respond online and in person.

Please don’t go here. I have been ordering cake here for over 12 years. The service has really GONE downhill.
I guess once a business start to grow they really don’t value their customers and they start to increase prices because they can. The WORST customer service EVER, I was actually told on the phone to go somewhere else.
PLEASE PLEASE go somewhere else where you will be treated with respect and value for your money.

I went here thinking it was a café but it is literally a cake shop with some cupcakes and cookies on the side for sale. They seem to do all ranges of special event cakes. The best party is they ate all NUT FREE! I walked in and realized my mistake but made the best of my situation and decided to pick up a pride cake. I picked up the only cake (carrot. .meh) since my sister in law already made cupcakes. I took it to the counter and maybe it was the look on my face but the friendly women behind the counter offered me a vanilla cake which was the same size but actually cheaper from their fridge in the back. ^_​^ I asked them to write a ‘happy pride’ message on it and not only did they do it with rainbow colors but also added rainbow flowers for me.
Sweet, friendly and great prices! Will go back for my best friend’s Bachlorette goodies in September!

The best nut-​free bakery in the GTA! Great for birthday parties and their cupcakes are amazing! Good nut-​free bakeries are hard to find. This hits the spot for sure! Cakes by Robert is awesome! :D

I have had a few cupcakes (nutfree) and this is the best of the bunch. They may not have many different cupcake base flavors (vanilla, chocolate, marble) but they are the most moist cakes I have tasted that are nutfree. This one is definitely worth a try. They also make egg and dairy free cupcakes/​cakes for an additional cost. As well, they have loot bags so it can be a one stop party shop!

I’ve ordered from Cakes by Robert many times for various special occasions. Their cakes are by far the most delicious special occasion cakes I’ve ever eaten. They’re always fresh as if they were made the same day. The frosting is sweet and the cake is moist making it the kind of traditional dessert that could have been your grandmother’s recipe. The decorators are fabulous and accommodating and can pretty much create any image you ask for. I asked them to create a very complicated logo (the Toronto Fire Dept crest) and it looked exact! They also created a BMW, beach scene, and cruise ship for other occasions. They’re also much more affordable than other cake places. It says Thornhill but it’s really not as far as you think (just off Yonge, just North of Steeles) and they also deliver for a fee.
Forget Dufflet, Paulines, Le Rocca, Nadege, and the other overpriced fancy Toronto bakeries. Cakes by Robert blows them all out of the water.

I know nothing of the cakes at Cakes By Robert, but I do know they make a beautiful cookiegram that tastes great too! I have to give a solid five stars because I cannot think of anything that went wrong with my Cookiegram ordering and delivery process.
I had my heart set on sending a cookiegram to my boyfriend on Valentine’s Day — once it was in my head, I would not settle for any other gift idea. So I did my research of all the places in the Toronto area that do cookiegrams. The going rate was $ 50 – 60. Whaaaaaat no, way too expensive. I could make my own giant cookie and put two twenties on top and still have it cost less than $ 50. However, I didn’t know how to hide the cookie at home and get it to his office in the middle of the day. I also would have had to buy a special box for it, the decorating icing, and a heart shaped cake pan… so I decided I should just pay a professional to do this.
Cakes By Robert had by far the size vs decorating vs cost ratio. Other places had large cookies for a good price, but the decorating simply wasn’t up to par. Since I am shopping online I have no way of knowing if the cookie tastes good, so it really is the presentation that counts.
When I called to order, I asked for the Valentine’s Day chocolate chip cookie exactly as it looked on the web site with a personalized message. The woman who took my order was quick, efficient and friendly. And I was pleasantly surprised when the total was an even $ 45 (this is for a downtown Toronto delivery). I actually thought it would be more like $ 50 with delivery.
When my boyfriend did receive the cookie, he and his co-​workers were very impressed with the presentation and just assumed the cookie wouldn’t taste very good, perhaps like a certain cookie franchise found in shopping malls. They were wrong! The cookie was so fresh and delicious. I finally got to have a piece the next day (today) and it’s still really good.

Cakes by Robert is an amazing bakery, filled with fresh and delicious baked products that are 100% NUT FREE!
Their baked goods are always fresh with the most delicious cake that is moist and remains moist for days after it is baked. To finish it off, the store only uses buttercream icing, which is just smooth and creamy and literally melts in your mouth.
Opened during the year of my birth (1984), I am sad I only discovered this birthday cake heaven this year BUT happy that I can now partake in their yummy treats and use Cakes by Robert for all of my party needs or when I have a craving from my good old sweet tooth.
First off, this store offers 1000’s of designs to choose from when it comes to customizing your cake, cupcakes, cookie cakes or special edible loot bags.
You can either go with one of their pre-​made designs or bring in a picture to screen onto a cake or a picture of a cake that will give the bakers a concept of what you want.
And for all of you brides-​to-​be out there, this delicious bakery does wedding cakes and treats for your upcoming engagement parties and/​or bridal showers! For your special day (from what I heard), the team or at least one member will have a full consultation on what you want for your big day and what would be the cake of your dreams. They will continue to work with you throughout the process to make sure you are happy with the finish product.
FOR THE KIDS, Cakes by Robert throw amazing NUT FREE birthday parties, which include a feast of individual pizzas, decorating cupcakes, making ice cream sundaes and enjoying tons of birthday cake and fun! It is quite the sugar rush!
As for prices, I find their prices to be reasonable for the amounts of baked goods you would be receiving per order.
