Amazing food! We come here anytime we pass thru Surrey. The owners are very welcoming and friendly. It’s a smaller place so not a lot of seating room. Chicken with jellof rice and plantain doesn’t get any better than that. Always fresh homemade food.

Loved it! Had the waakye and tilapia. Both were great. The fish was fresh and not dry or overdone. Loved the shito too. The owner is very friendly.

I came here in January of 2014 with my wife as we live nearby and wanted to eat some place different. Too often are we trapped into the eventual conclusion of eating at «Cactus» or «Earl’s» with friends, so we welcomed the idea of doing something new. The restaurant is half snack bar, half grocery store. The décor isn’t good, and the seating is meh — but that’s not why people flock here. The food is very good. I am a man who has never had African food but I must say, this was tasty. I made a mistake however — I ordered a meal called«fufu.» This was a meal for 4 – 5 people — not just me. It was delicious but GIGANTIC. Only order if you come in a group! The rest of the food was manageable in size. The side dishes are full of flavour! Please try it.

Brilliant food. The Taste of Africa? The TasteS of Africa. Many wonderful, delicious, tasty tastes of Africa; on your plate! We’d heard about this place from some friends. Decided that there were enough interesting stores to visit in addition to the restaurant and made a trip. Service was amazing, however the décor is that of a small restaurant with a couple of tables, combined with a store which stocks some specialty food, grocery, and general items. We ended up ordering the following: Fufu: Okra Stew: Stewed Chicken with Rice and Beans and Spinach: All so very very delicious. Service was stellar, everyone was very charming and gracious hosts. While we were there a couple came in with their young baby, all on vacation from Alberta. They’d apparently been there just the night before but decided to come back they enjoyed the meal so much. Even the baby was chowing down on all the food. Fufu, for those of your who don’t know, is made by boiling starchy vegetables, such as cassava and yam, and then pounding it until it forms a dough. My honey went traditional with the Fufu and was eating it with his hands and dipping it in the Okra. The owner couldn’t help herself but comment on how she loved to see people enjoy their food this way. Everything was remarkable and delicious. Definitely work a special trip and if you live in the area: lucky you!

A friendly neighbourhood restaurant and African general food store. I ordered a hearty plate of Waake(rice and beans) that included chicken and salad.
