Have been a loyal customer for quite a few years but now find myself frustrated by the service. I always pre-order and always seem to wait and wait. This time I pre-ordered and watched my large party order go out the door with someone else ahead of me in line. I ask if that had been my order because who the heck else orders exactly 30 samosa with their order and she smiled and said no no. Seriously staff looked at me and said– another 20 minutes. Still here 60 mins after my original order. Waiting. Last time. Oh and the samosa I waited 65 minutes for? Hard and overcooked. Never again. Golden Samosa bakery or Calgary sweets here I come…

Can’t say enough about the food it was great. This place screams out for a cleaning BADLY. There was even salt and pepper all over the candle and looked it had been there for quite some time. Service sucked worse than anything I have ever seen before. Our lunch took 1.5 hours for only Butter chicken with rice, Chicken pakoras and garlic Naan. 3 waitresses for 10 people and they all ran around doing nothing. This guy comes in on his lunch break orders food which took the usual 30 minutes then sat there for 22 yes 22 minutes and still couldn’t get a fork or napkin so he finally gets fed up and tells then he is leaving without eating a speck of food. Like I said food was great but they really need to get some servers with talent.

I decided to give this restaurant a try as I drove by it regularly. I stopped by for lunch on a weekend and I was the only customer. There were a couple customers waiting for pick up at the entrance. This restaurant used to be Tasty Sweet Restaurant before Tasty moved to a different location nearby. Taj kept the old décor. The restaurant can benefit from a bit of updating. The tables and booths were old and showing their age. I ordered butter chicken, naan and rice. I asked the server if I could use the entertainment book coupon and I was told the restaurant was under new ownership and no longer accepts the coupons. It was unfortunate that the new owners did not honour the coupon. It was $ 5 off a second menu item. Consequently, I skipped an appetizer I had intended to try. Food arrived pipping hot. The butter chicken was well made and flavourful. There was a decent amount of chicken. The naan was hot and fluffy. However, there was black specks of burnt stuff that I picked off the naan. I am not sure if that was from the previous naan or they burnt something along the way. Rice tasted fresh. It was an okay meal for $ 16. Honestly, the restaurant faces stiff competition from nearby restaurants. I could have went to Nav Sweets and Restaurant for their $ 8.99 lunch buffet or Ashiana Restaurant for their $ 10.99 lunch buffet. Both of these restaurants serve buffet on weekends. I would have enjoyed more variety for less money. I could have gone to Tasty Indian Bistro for better quality food and ambiance. However, I wanted to give this restaurant a try to compare. The overall experience was alright. I do not plan to return anytime soon because I would choose one of the buffets on the same plaza if I wanted a dine in experience.
