Good Day Sunshine Cafe

This place changed since Chris & Jess sold it. I just don’t find the décor as inviting, not much selection and coffee isn’t very strong. It’s too bad the new owners didn’t maintain what was there. There’s a lack of good, local coffee places that are locally owned w a good vibe.

I had been looking forward to trying this place for a while, after having read some great reviews. What a shocker ! The place is stark in a «why bother with décor» style. You order from the menu at the counter, after you choose from a very limited selection. My bfast choice, recommended by the person at the counter, was frittatta. The small slice came with a handful of greens out of a salad box and a miniscule slice of bread. The portion was so small that I had almost finished it when I was called to get my coffee that was finally ready. The coffee came in a big bowl but, it was not strong in the traditional European tradition and more like regular diner strength. The music, techno toneless boom, was very annoying. A disappointing experience overall.

This review should probably be under coffee and tea as we haven’t eaten a meal here but if it’s like the coffee and muffins it would be good. There are new owners since the last Unilocal review, I think they have had it for about 4 months now and as we didn’t come when Chris and Jesse were here I can’t compare. But, I can say we have had one of the best lattes in our time in bc and as an Aussie I am a demanding coffee drinker. Now I just need them to learn how to make a good flat white!

Good Day Sunshine Café is serving up some excellent coffee! It was very delicious — coming from a girl who doesn’t like coffee… this is a huge compliment.
Sadly, I do not recommend getting the matcha latte. The green tea was very grainy and overall the drink tasted watery.

Lovely place, nice people, yummy coffee — what more do you need? I’ll be back, this café is a couple doors down from my hair salon, Salon Cordeiro :)

We’ve been looking for an amazing coffee experience in the White Rock area and have finally found it. Chris and Jessie have created a warm welcoming space that makes you want to hang out, sip your coffee and enjoy the moment. We will definitely be coming back. :)

The South Surrey/​White Rock area was overdue for good coffee. Jesse and Chris saved they day when they opened. It was refreshing to see they offered JJ bean coffee. Jesse devotion to good coffee and espresso is impressive. I have not known a barista to be as consistent as she is. Chris’s devotion to the food is also excellent. I know he’ll have something sweet or savory as an excellent snack.
If I am in the mood, the option of having a well priced craft beer is nice. Or perhaps some baileys in my coffee. One of the few licensed coffee shops out there.

This coffee shop is run by owners Jessie and Chris, firstly I would not hesitate to mention the coffee quality and barista expertise in the same breath with some of the popular specialty coffee shops in the Pacific North West, and I’ve tried pretty much all of them from Stumptown in Seattle to Coava in Portland. Fresh beans perfectly roasted can still be ruined by unqualified or poorly trained baristas or poor espresso machines and grinders, There espresso grinders seem to always be perfectly dialed in throughout the day, you never get an over extracted or under extracted coffee and because the barista (Jessie) is always the same, you always get consistently great coffee. Also the food choice is outstanding! Chris is very passionate about his menu which is all about fresh quality local ingredients that Include vegan friendly items to gluten free Fridays, I’ve had some of the best homemade sandwiches and muffins here! To say there the best café/​coffee shop in Surrey is an understatement.

Enjoyed an great breakfast hand crafted by Jessie and Chris. The breakfast wrap was very tasty and quite filling. Chris made an awesome cappuccino with the most artistic design in the foamed milk! We were also able to watch art in motion while local artist, Carolyn Barone, proceeded to create designs on the coffee table in the lounge area of the café! We will be back! Great neighbourhood spot!

This is our favourite breakfast and lunch place. Chris and Jessie’s warm welcome, fabulous coffee, and wonderful food make every visit a delight. Try their breakfast wraps (the best around), veggie chili, tuna sandwiches, homemade soup, and baked goodies. They’re licensed and open some evenings for live music or art classes. The coffee is the best in South Surrey/​White Rock, hands down.

Went here for the first time today, and it certainly won’t be the last, be sure to keep your eye out for the sign or you might miss the turn off into the quiet little pedestrian mall. The owners are super friendly and inviting, and even gave us some travel advice. I love their two shot espresso drink menu, its like a whole café that specializes in different varieties of my favourite way to drink coffee. I had an espresso, with some soy milk and a macciato (spelling?) which were both delicious.
There are toys for kids, big tables, huge windows and even a place to tie up your dog outside, but in sight and out of the walking path. Nice art on the walls and music on Saturday nights.
I kept humming the Beatles song in my head after going there, that’s the kind of place it is. I can’t help but be in a good mood after a visit, I’m sure it will have the same effect on you.
