Gam Shoe Repair & Quality Leather Goods

This place is a straight up rip-​off! I took a pair of boots to be cut down from knee height to ankle height. They said it would take 2 – 3 weeks. I got phone call asking if it was okay if the boots had 5 eyelets instead of 6 eyelets. I guess it had to be okay cuz one of the boots was accidentally cut to 5 eyelets.
I went to pick up the boots only to take them home to find out that one boot had 5 eyelets and the other had 6 eyelets. When I returned, the guy was being such a dink about it saying that I should have checked before I left. Um, THEY should have checked before putting them into a bag and giving them to me. They fixed the ‘taller’ boot but it took another 10 days! And they wanted to charge me $ 21 for their screw up! I grabbed my boots and ran before they and mall security caught up with me. Sue me, losers!

I should have trusted my gut but my fiancé insisted we go here. It cost $ 55 to resole a pair of boots I had. While the cost was good, I guess you get what you pay for. The new sole is already coming off (I’ve had the boots for two weeks now) and while trying to remove the original sole, it appears they sliced the actually boot in two places just above where the sole sits. These slices aren’t repairable. I would NOT recommend this shoe repair. Look elsewhere.

Tried to get my boots taken in at the calf and he didn’t make it any smaller. The issue is still not resolved and so I must go to another shoe place to get it done since he made it sound impossible. Spent around $ 90 and didnt seem to make much if a difference at all.

I have never actually gotten work done here because my friends and myself have all had negative experiences. I speak only for the metrotown location as that is the only one my friends and I have visited. I brought a pair of boots here and asked for a calf tightening alteration. I had called in the morning to ask if it was possible and he reassured me it would be so I drove there right after work. He told me it could not be done because my boot does not have a zipper and said unless I wanted to spend over $ 100 on making a new zipper for my boot, it was impossible. He would not listen to any of my suggestions and kept talking over me about his «19 years of experience» in the most condescending tone. My friends have also tried their luck at this place and were quoted ridiculous prices for very simple work. I later took my boots to another shop near my house and the man told me my calf alteration was one of the easiest things to do and he did it for only a fraction of what GAM quoted me. Stay away from this place…
