The atmosphere is just awesome. The Sculptures are stunning and the food is amazing. Their fries are to die for. I would definitely recommend this place.

I am a regular to this Earls. Went there with friends on Tuesday for dinner and there was barely anyone there, but the waitress and the manager made our time there worthwhile. They took that little extra care to come and say hello and have a conversation. I usually go there for lunch but this time I was there with friends for dinner — which lasted more than a few hours. The food was good… but service was amazing. My lunch experience has always been a positive one. I like to bring my friends and clients here as it is not too noisy and you don’t have to look around for your water to be filled. I almost don’t have to tell them I take water without ice. It is nice when the waiter knows what you have.

I’ve been going to Earl’s since the 1980s, and have always really liked the food… but, holy crap, they’ve really gotten out of control on their prices. I laud their recent inclusion of more vegetarian items on the menus, but the prices are becoming ridiculous for what you get(and for where you’re eating: I mean, we’re talking Earl’s, for god’s sake, not Seasons in the Park). We’re a late-middle aged couple and we eat out several times a week. We actually don’t mind paying good money for value, but lately, we just feel like we’re being ripped off whenever we go to Earl’s(which has always been a quick go-to kind of place for us). For example, their new Bibimbap rice bowl is excellent, and I’d eat it every day, but I just can’t justify the price: EIGHTEENBUCKS for a quick vegetarian lunch? And that’s not including beverage, tax, and tip. I’m vegetarian, so I ordered the basic bibimbap bowl for $ 15 and then added tofu for $ 3. There were SERIOUSLY four dice-sized pieces of tofu in the bowl. And the bowl itself(rice, vegetables, and egg) is not huge by any means. I’m not a big eater and I ate every freakin’ morsel. As I said… it’s good, but NOT good value. The Wild Rice restaurant has a similar vegetarian/tofu dish that I always balk at paying $ 18 for, but at least it’s so huge that I take home half and eat the rest for lunch and dinner the next day. Earl’s REALLY needs to reconsider their value/price equation(or whatever it’s called) because if I and my husband(who usually don’t really think about prices in restaurants) are thinking Earl’s is a rip-off, they might have a problem. The service is usually very, very good, but last time we were there(Strawberry Hill), our server was distracted at best(though it was 2:00PM and we were almost the only ones in the store). In fact, it was kind of funny because we’ve ordered the bibimbap twice and the first time, the server explained that it was important that she mix it at the table and did so with an explanation and elegance that actually made one feel that the overpriced dish was kind of worth it. A week later, we ordered it again, and the distracted server dropped the dishes off and said(over her shoulder), «Yeah, don’t forget to mix it up» before she wandered off, not to be seen again until she asked if we wanted coffee. Jeez, we’re an old couple with money to spare(and we tip well) – we would’ve ordered another bottle of wine if she’d asked!

So I went there on a Friday night with my gf, and the place is nice, with a hype atmosphere place that you see around Vancouver and its surroundings. The staff is very nice and you get a chair straight away. There are seats outside so it is perfect during the summer. They do special offers on the different days of the week(one dollar off, etc.). We ordered cocktails two mojitos(one dollar off on the Fridays), and to be honest those weren’t great, probably pre-made cocktails. Then the food came and it is nice looking, the burger I had was right, nice mix of flavors, the buns were perfectly cooked and the sauce with the bacon and paddy were good quality(the meat is raised in Canada). My girlfriend ordered the Kung pau noodle and she said it was not as good as it was before. On the menu you can get pretty much all the classics from burgers and sandwiches to noodles and salads. The drink card is strong with many cocktails and draught beers. That is a nice place with a good atmosphere, a gentle staff and good food. The possibility to have blankets outside is a plus if it gets cold in the evenings. Also happy hour until 6 and then from 9 to closure.

The food is pretty much what you would expect from any chain restaurants like Cactus, Browns, Milestones, etc. It’s good food. What I’m here to talk about is the great service my friends and I got on our last girls night. Now I’ve always been iffy about eating at chain restaurants like this and the ones I mentioned above; tall, skinny, and pretty girls in short black dresses can sometimes test my self-confidence on a bad day. However, the service we received made up for all the– erm, let’s say– superficial side of these social houses. Our sever was very friendly and checked up on us enough but not too much. She even went the extra mile as to give us little samples of 4 different virgin margaritas in little shot glasses when she saw us glancing at the drinks menu a little bit longer than normal. One of the managers even came up to us and just chatted for a bit. He wasn’t being invasive or annoying: just nice and friendly. Needless to say, our server was tipped well.

Corona special on Mondays! Six of us went over to Earl’s for dinner last night. Typically I like to stay away from chain restaurants, especially in the valley, but Earl’s was the best location considering where the different parties were coming from. Thankfully, we had a good evening. I had the champagne mixed berry spinach salad and the triple cheese dip. I really enjoyed my meal. The salad had a good mix of berries, nuts and greens as well as great texture. Not drenched in dressing like most salads are. The dip was divine! Great appetizer to go along with a drink. Great patio, good food and even better service. Excellent option if looking for a good restaurant in the Nordel/Surrey area.

You know, I really like Earls however, we can only go when we have extra $$! So expensive but it is good food and the place that we like to go also has great customer service. When it’s warm outside, we like to sit on their patio. really nice setup.

The Bronx burger here is one of the best burgers I’ve had. I really love a good burger and this one is definitely in the top 10. The bun to meat ratio is perfect, condiments delicious, no one taste overpowers. Absolutely delish… just don’t look up the calories or fat content.

Stopped by the local Earl’s after a movie at Strawberry Hill for appies & cocktails. I ordered the 12 oz house ale which is served in a 12 oz glass but didn’t contain 12oz of beer! When I questioned the waiter, he was too dozy to answer. Like a deer caught in the headlights. The next thing we know, the bar tender is at the table telling us «it’s the general manager’s instructions to serve beer with a 2″ head». In other words, they short pour by about 3 ozs which means their profit is higher on a keg of beer and the consumer gets screwed. Not impressed with this. When the menu says the glass is 12 oz and I’m charged for a 12 oz glass, I expect to get what I pay for. The wife’s martini turns out to be nothing more than a 10 oz bowl of cool aide. Lord only knows if the amount of liquor stated on the menu was actually in that glass. Food was OK but not good enough to make us want to try this place again. There’s other places in the area that don’t cheat their customers. Quite disappointing to find a restaurant chain like Earl’s that has to resort to cheating its customers to make an extra buck.
