Best Shwarma in town! Best best falafel I’ve ever had! I’ve been here a number of times and I cannot say enough about quality of the ingredients. Revision: I wrote the above review before reading Coraline’s review of this restaurant. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen two reviews more different about a place. I’ve been going here for years and I’ve never had a bad falafel and everyone else I go with always raves about it. I consider myself somewhat of a falafel connoisseur as I have lived in Toronto and sampled falafel in Montréal, Halifax and France. I know for a fact that the falafel is made fresh. I almost feel like Coraline’s went to the restaurant on opposite day because the one reason I sometimes don’t stop here is because service is slow if there is a bit of a line — the owner is the only person working the kitchen… and I only think the samosas are okay. Well, to each there own!

I’ve been looking for a good place to get falafel in St. Kitts as both Toronto and Ottawa have a plethora of excellent shawarma and falafel restaurants. They are easy to find and almost always decent. So this was my first restaurant in my quest to find a decent falafel that doesn’t cost 7 $(I know that«You Need A Pita» makes a great falafel). Unfortunately, I will probably never come back to this restaurant. I’m hoping the Oasis or Vaughn’s serves up a better falafel. The customer service was friendly and fast, so I will give them that. The restaurant itself was hot, with a lot of empty spaces. It was clean… ish. No visible dirty dishes or messes on table tops… but the kitchen area and counter space looked dingy. I have to mention that they used a plastic spoon to dish out the hummus onto the pita. This just says ‘unprofessional’ to me for some reason. Really a plastic spoon? It was so hot in the restaurant I wondered how the small amounts of available veggies they had in the counter-space stayed fresh. They certainly didn’t look fresh. Even the pink-pickled(turnips?) were faded pink, and cut into stringy bits, resting in spotted liquid. Usually I would ask for extra turnips, but this time I passed. The tomatoes were gross-looking too. The falafel balls were clearly microwaved, and squished into a mass when put into the sandwich. There was actually a moment during the sandwich assembly that a thought pushed itself into my conscious and I asked myself«Do I actually want to eat this? Should I go through with this?» which I replied with«Yes, Its a falafel, how bad could it possibly be?» Really Bad. The first bite in, my tongue immediately found a pickled green pepper, which tasted rancid. I looked inside the sandwich and tried to pull the remaining peppers out. I know some ingredients are supposed to be tangy or sour, but this was not pickled in a good way. I spent the remaining time eating my sandwich hoping that I wasn’t going to get food poisoning from this sandwich, knowing full well that I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened. The second half of my falafel sits in my fridge where I’ve been avoiding it, and wondering if I should just throw it out(and I hate wasting food). However, I had a microwaved samosa with potatoes and green peas and a good amount of spice, and that was delicious!(and cheap, for 1.29 $ :) I’d go back for the samosa, but avoid the falafel. Also this place is open till«3 or 4am» on Saturdays, so I can imagine that this would be a great place to get food for drunk people.
