Squamish Valley Campground

Great site! Very few rules, very few services. Ali the owner is a great guy, I am assuming he got angry at some of the other reviewers for not paying, I can understand that, this is his livelihood, he has always been polite and friendly to me. Follow the rules, stop at the gate and register. There is late night music, beer drinking, and people dont bother you. Rustic is the word I would use, bring what you need, or go back to town to get it. River and beach are awesome (water is freezing it was ice 4 minutes ago), views are spectacular! There are bears, be smart, there are bear proof dumpsters for garbage, dont keep food in your tent, lock it in the car! It is like camping at the old Forest Service campsites, but closer together. No power, very little cell, perfect place to have a few beers, let off some steam, and unplug for the weekend!
I really like it, but I’m the guy who gets thrown out of provincial parks on the first night!

Please please please do your due diligence on this place, before going. Here is actual correspondence between myself and the owner of the campground. A group of us were planning on staying here for the August long weekend and wanted to make sure our experience would be pleasant. Due to the negative reviews throughout the web, I decided to ask the owner some questions. You should find this information useful should you and your group be planning on staying at this campground any time in the future. Although we are disappointed to not be able to stay at this fabulous location, the management and ownership of this property definitely needs to take a look at themselves, hopefully the negative reviews on the internet will get them to change their attitude and maintenance of this gem of a property so that they are able to continue business in the beautiful Squamish Valley.

A couple questions:
1. I’m calculating the cost for the weekend and is it correct to say that it will be $ 120 for our group per night plus car and pets for one campsite? This seems very high as most campsites in BC are $ 30 — $ 35 per site rather than a per person fee. Could you please clarify/​confirm and if this is the case, please advise on the following:

There isn’t a lot of information and what is available is mixed reviews as it seems like it is a place people come to «just party», leave garbage and not sure about how this is maintained. We are 4 adult couples who are looking to have a relaxing weekend away from the city. Although we are not sticklers for quiet, etc. and we do enjoy a good time, I wanted to make sure that this campsite is not a place for large partiers at all hours of the evening, garbage left on the beach, guns going off, etc.
d. Finally — I read somewhere that there is a local bear that frequents your campsite due to garbage being left out and garbage cans not being properly bear-​controlled. Is this the case? We are concerned as we will have 3 dogs in our group.
e. Would it be possible to send us a couple pictures of the new location of the campsites? Your website still shows the campsites as being right on the beach which I understand is no longer the case. It would be great to have as much clarity as possible prior to us arriving on the long weekend.

Not a quality campground. Basically a bulldozer drove through the forest and cleared areas for campers to squat and leave their party garbage behind. Port-​a-​potties were full. Staff were kind.

This place runs a pretty loose ship but that’s exactly what me and my friends are looking for when we go out into the bush. We don’t wanna deal with noise curfews and enforced rules… we want to be loud, dirty bush people!
It’s about $ 12/​person a night which I don’t mind cause whoever comes just pays for themselves and you don’t have to organize and deal with max numbers of people per campground!
Once you are on the property it is a free for all for spots, they claim to do reservations but they don’t. The spots aren’t numbered or organized you just find an empty one you like and you stake your claim!
There is an unwritten rule that partiers go to the left at the fork in the road and families or more quiet campers go off to the right… if you go left anything could happen!
We have gone twice and had a blast both times meeting and partying with new people. Some will be awesome, we have encountered others that were rather drunk and ignorant and there is usually someone with some loud music going on which I don’t mind.
The river is freezing so don’t plan to spend much time in it, but it’s beautiful to look at! And the porta-​potties were surprisingly well maintained except they never have hand sanitizer in them so bring your own!
