I wasn’t aware that this neighbourhood had a Persian community so when I notice the sign Omid Restaurant Fine Persian in a sketchy Plaza, I peeked through the windows to notice a bare-bone restaurant with 1 guest this night with a finished plate. Obviously I walked inside, ONLY to notice an older Gentleman in the back Kitchen prepping some items. No directions whatsoever I walked up to the counter and looked up to the 10 odd Photos of Kebobs(only) for order while there was a Menu that you can glance over as well. The Gentleman noticed me and came over so I asked him WHAT he has since I barely noticed any Food in this Open Kitchen. He walks back to the Kitchen suspiciously and comes back to the front. Whips it out right in front of me in it’s full glory… A silver Dizi Pot! It happens that it’s a SPECIAL item on Tuesday nights, Jackpot! Shout-out: Thank you to Master Bijan for schooling me in the Art of Persian Cuisine as I now venture out on my own to explore. The Owner was surprised I knew as much. I take a seat in this plain ordinary unassuming dining room with ORANGE walls facing the Rear Projection TV(from the Jurassic Era) and awaited my Meal. Soon after I was projected with a basket of Raw Onion(1⁄8), Parsley, Lemon Wedge, and Thin Flat Bread(Store-bought). A plate of Saffron Rice came with a side of Salad then a Bowl of Stew(Meat, Chickpeas, White Beans, Potato, Onion, Tomato). A Can of Pop was given as well. By no means does the meal look as classy or comes with full arsenal of ingredients as the Downtown Toronto or Steeles/Yonge Persian Restaurants but considering I paid a total of 2 — $ 5 Bills to settle the score I think it’s quite acceptable. The Owner even came out to me when the last guest left to tell me about half the list of Stews and what each one is about. Wednesday is Sabzi Polow Wa Mahie(Salmon) Special. It was lucky I took some coins($ 1.25) right after my Phở meal a few units away to tip the kind Man but he wasn’t really looking for Tips anyways. This is more of a Lunch Special or a Take-out place actually as I saw someone come in to take their Meal away.
