Had the preserved veggie and shredded pork vermicelli. Came to $ 5 and a bit after tax. Not bad. Lots of vermicelli. Not bad on the pork or the preserved veggie, but I have yet to find a place that does exceedingly well in terms of the portions on the pork or veg. I wish the broth had more flavor, or something. Very bland, unless you get a bite of the preserved veggie. When I asked for an extra bowl (in Cantonese), the lady frowned at me, but gave one to me anyways. Perhaps there’s an extra charge ($ 0.25) written in Chinese that I don’t know about?

Usually, I come here for the pork belly on rice which is pretty good. The last time, I went there with the same dish in mind. As usual, I ordered it. Waited for my dish but never came. There was one dish that sat on the counter which nobody was picking up. I asked the long haired lady behind the counter if this was mine. She gave me this bewildered looked and said yes. I told her that wasn’t what I ordered. She said it was and that I did not order pork belly. I told her that she may have heard wrong because I would not have known how to order the dish that was out in front of me. She said that’s what I ordered, turned her head and said «sorry» in a sarcastic tone while walking away from me. Is this a way to treat a customer? Let alone someone who regularly frequents their stall. The dish ended up being good, but with the plethora of options in their food court and around the Scarborough/​Markham/​Richmond Hill area, I have plenty of choices that I would never need to come back. Your food is good, but your attitude kills. Sorry, but I’ve moved on.

Canton Kitchen Chartwell offers affordable dishes with loads of flavor. The lady who took our order over the phone was difficult to understand. That was quite frustrating for my Aunt who was trying for almost 15 mins to place an order of 5 dishes. Canton Kitchen is located in a Food Court and they are Unit # 133. You can eat in or call in and pick up your food. They do NOT deliver.
They do their best to prepare your food quickly. It’s busy here and there aren’t a lot of employees.
We ordered Fish Sauce Chicken, Mixed Seafood w/​Vegetable, Fish w/​Roasted Pork & Garlic, Beef Slices w/​Vegetable and Stewed Sliced Pork w/​Preserved Vegetable. The dishes came with White Rice. I appreciate that the dishes weren’t overly salty, greasy, oily or packed with corn starch. The sauces were light and incredibly flavorful. Meats, fish and vegetables were all tender and juicy. Vegetables were crisp and not bruised. The Stewed Sliced Pork w/​Preserved Vegetable really took me back in time. It’s been awhile since I’ve had this dish. This was one of my dads favorite dishes.
They are generous with the serving size. You will definitely get your moneys worth. With ordering difficulties aside, this place makes my mouth water.
