I’ve only eaten take-out from here, but so far I’m a fan. Had the tonkotsu ramen, which comes in a rich broth and the noodles were perfectly cooked. Simple and delicious! Much prefer this to the insipid bowls of ramen served in my own neighbourhood. Worth the drive!

I highly recommend this place Food quality is amazing, the portions are big and the price is very good. I have to order the curry everytime I go. The desserts are a must, it’s not super sweet though, just right.

Well, first thing’s first. Service was crap! The server greeted us but that was about the only thing she said PLUS she looked super angry. It was as if the whole world pissed her off or something. Minus stars for that. Most diners at this place ordered ramen but we came here specifically for the hot stone bowl. Upon a friend’s recommendation, we also order the scallops with garlic butter as an appetizer. All of our dishes came out about the same time. I would have preferred the appetizer to come first but not a big deal. Scallops with Garlic Butter($ 11.95−3÷5): You get four pieces of jumbo scallops on a sizzling cast iron pan. It would work out to $ 3 a piece. The scallops were cooked perfectly but it was tasteless on its own. Like you’d really have to scoop a spoonful of sauce to accompany it. The garlic butter sauce was yum! The price is a bit steep for such a small plate but I guess this what you’d normally pay for scallops. Miso Beef hot stone bowl($ 12.95−3÷5): Huge portion! Comes with a side of edamame, sesame bean sprouts and pickled radish. The hot stone bowl had slices of beef, onion and rice. It has a strong miso fragrance but in my opinion it didn’t have much taste and required more sauce. The miso soup was very tasty, perhaps the best I’ve had. Hot stone pot with beef, sweet corn and cheese($ 12.95−4÷5): Also Huge portion! There was a generous amount of cheese, some sweet corn and minced beef. I believe they’ve also topped it with some shredded carrots(?). This bowl had more flavor but I added the remaining garlic butter to my bowl and it tasted awesome! I like it spicy so I sprinkled some Japanese pepper from time to time. Due to the cheese in this bowl, it does crisp up, so mix it frequently if you don’t like your rice hard. This didn’t happen with the miso beef. Also comes with sides and soup. Honestly, if you want something warm and filling, get their hot stone bowls! One bowl was too much for either of us and could have easily shared one. But… I wouldn’t want to share my soup, though. If you do get the bowls, I’d suggest getting the one with cheese as the miso beef wasn’t anything special. Price to portion was good! 3 stars because service was bad and two out of three the dishes were soso.

The waitress seemed to be a little slow when I explained j wanted to change a drink. Overall, the unagi stone bowl rice was ok. It could’ve have a little more flavour to it. The pancake was very filling.

Not authentic, BUT I really like their food. — Great noodle & meat portions in the ramen — Well cooked noodles — Lots of flavor to the soup — Tried their Sailor Moon dessert. and it was excellent I am pleasantly surprised with the high quality of their food. When I first tried Yuu, I expected a mediocre experience considering their large menu selection. I would be a repeat customer, and I would recommend Yuu to others.

Yuu Tapas has a huge variety of Japanese comfort foods, and so far they’ve all tasted great. I highly recommend the chilled ramen with deep fried chicken, it’s incredibly refreshing and tastes amazing, not to mention their portions are quite large. The ramen here is also great for their prices. We tried the Matcha Peach Slushy, which had great flavor but was a bit overboard with the amount of ice they put in(multiple brain freezes). Overall great experience :)

This place has really good food and desserts. Perfect for a one stop shop. Everything is reasonably priced and lots of selection on the menu that I get kind of overwhelmed sometimes. It gets busy sometimes which slows down their service but the servers are nice. I recommend their ramen or katsu dishes for dinner and that cubed stacked toast box for dessert. The parfaits are good too but you should probably share it as its a bit much for one person.

My wife had the Kimchi hot pot w/sliced pork. It had a good blend of sliced pork, prawns, tofu and mushrooms. @$ 11.95 she liked it and it tasted good. Thumbs up! I had the Crispy Curry Pork Cutlet combo @ $ 13.95 incl. salad, drink(Calpis) and daily dessert. Curry was good. Reminded me slightly of a Massaman curry. Good value! Service was okay as it was kinda busy. Would come back again.

We come here a lot on weekends — it’s usually quite busy here but the wait for tables is not too long. Service is fairly quick and while the staff is not overly friendly, they aren’t rude. The restaurant is cutely decorated with Japanese lanterns and origami and they always have soothing music playing(today’s selection was a Boyce Avenue playlist haha). Yuu is one of my favourite places for Japanese lunch. Even though it’s not run by Japanese people, it offers authentic Japanese dishes for a slightly steep yet reasonable price. I ordered the chicken teriyaki rice bowl, which comes with miso soup and a side dish of pickled carrot, bean sprouts, and edamame. I really enjoyed it — the chicken was tender but had crispy skin, the teriyaki sauce was not too sweet or salty, and the portion was quite large. At $ 8.95, it’s a reasonable lunch or dinner deal. Yuu’s ramen is OK, but their tonkatsu curry is apparently rated #1 so will have to try that next time I visit!

It’s actually not that bad. It’s pretty good. If you are looking for a place with a lot of choices, this place has about the most in ramen selections. There’s a lot of tapas too. Check for daily specials and don’t forget they have a good drink selection of unique slushes.

I came here with the Work Team and I ordered a lunch special with a Chicken Katsu Curry on Rice, a Mango Pudding, and a Black Coffee. For under $ 13 I thought this was a pretty good deal. The chicken katsu was extremely crisp on the outside with the right amount of chewiness on the inside. It wasn’t overcooked and it went deliciously well with the curry sauce on the bottom. The rice was also a great complement to the curry and filled me right up. The meal also comes with a side Japanese salad which has a sour dressing to it and gives a nice tangy aftertaste. The Mango Pudding was pretty good with its smooth texture but the savoury chicken katsu cannot be topped. I don’t usually drink coffee but the one here wasn’t bad. Nothing on Continental Coffee but certainly not as bad as the water, I mean coffee, at Tim Horton’s. All in all great value and super filling for a Japanese tapas restaurant so I prefer this place to the nearby Ebisu.

AMBIENCE Smallish place, likely Chinese owned and operated, so very no-nonsense service.+ FOOD Had a Chicken Katsu Don for $ 8.95, and the portion was generous for the price(although there was also a bowl of miso and a lot of rice which filled me up real good). The breaded chicken, egg and onion was pretty nicely done and stayed hot through to the last bite.++ Friend enjoyed a big bowl of ramen with a «Tokyo style soy sauce base» with chaashuu(BBQ pork), also for $ 8.95.+

Great selection of ramen with premium chasu. I had the ramen in pork bone soup with pork slices, egg, corn, nor I, bean sprouts. It was full of flavour and the noodles were cooked to perfection. The pork slices were fatty and tender… just the way I like it. My mom had the spicy miso soup. That one was really good too but too much spice for me.

Been here a few times. It’s usually not very busy. This time I went on a Saturday night at about 8pm. I got a table right away for two people. Service is okay. Enough to get by for a quick meal. We ordered: — Asari butter-sakemushi in Tonkotsu broth(a.k.a. clams in a mini hotpot thing): YUM! LIKE! I almost order this every time I come here. The clams are usually plump and juicy. They always give you one super big clam at the top. Btw, it’s a little spicy. — Homemade Styled Hamburger patty(in teriyaki sauce) with deep fried prawns: GOOD! Before they changed their whole menu, I used to get this dish with the citrus ponzu sauce. That was already good, but I think the teriyaki sauce one is even better. The hamburger patty was superrrrrr juicyyyyy and good. I liked that it comes with wedge fries =P — Miso beef on rice in hot stone pot: this was GOOD too. Lots of flavour and beef in it. — Green apple calpis: AVERAGE Ordered from past visits: — tender beef cubes served on hot plate: NOT-SO-GOOD. the beef was a little hard and too chewy. We had a hard time chewing it. — hot stone beef pot with sweet corn and cheese: LIKE. I liked this dish. The cheese was nice and gooey, and the sweet, crunchy corn add to the texture. I have to come back again! There are too many things I want to try on their menu!(Especially the dessert section =D)

Upon entering, you’re greeted with a faint«Irasshaimase» which is awkward when you realize that everyone working there speaks Mandarin. I ordered the pumpkin chicken hotpot. While there were ample ingredients, the broth was very one dimensional and rather bland. The chicken was rather rubbery as well. Their food is alright, definitely not up to authentic Japanese fare. Definitely not worth the money. If you’re looking for Japanese food in the area, I highly recommend Gyo in the same plaza or Guu in Aberdeen. I was really excited to try this place but left very disappointed.

Not a bad place to share a few little Japanese bites and chug down some refreshing bevvies with your friends while watching Japanese game shows/Iron chef on the flat screen :) sounds like a chill night if you asked me. I wanted to try this place out for a while, but never had the chance… UNTILNOW, SON! –Deep Fried Tofu with ground beef sauce on top– can’t remember the real name but it was pretty tasty –Squid Tentacles– crispy and flavorful –Japanese Poutine– a slight twist on a Montréal classic ;) — Takoyaki aka Octoballs– Can’t go wrong with those. plus i just love saying«Octoballs» :P sounds dirty doesn’t it… I’m not a fan of Japanese Curry but i am slowly growing on it. I find that the J curry here is pretty rich and decadent in this establishment. I’m lovin it :) Looking forward to coming back here and try more of their arsenal of delicious goodies

This is a small place in the Continental Mall right beside a bunch of other eateries. We have been here several times and really enjoy their individual Mini hot pots here. We ordered: A2 — Deep fried Squid Tentacles –crunchy and yummy HP2 — Japanese Pumpkin and Chicken Hotpot in a creamy chicken broth HP3 — Tomato and Beef Hotpot Both hot pots come with cold condiments — Edamame, Japanese Pickles, and Marinated Bean Sprouts; and a bowl of rice. We had the Pizza here before and it’s quite good but filling. The Clam Wine Hotpot in the Appie is actually meal size and very yummy if you like spicy. The noodles are ok with a decent broth but I prefer the noodles at GMen Naanchu Izakaya.

Love love love! You can get one of the most memorable(food-wise) japanese meals here, from appies to desserts they’ve pretty much nailed it in my opinion. Also a very extensive drink selection, it’s pretty tempting to order everything thats on the menu. I’ve dined here on numerous occasions and never been dissapointed. Although a bit more pricey than most places, they make up for it in their quality and presentation no doubt. All the food seems very fresh and the secret ingredient(love) is abundant. You pretty much can’t go wrong with anything here. There’s also a little bit of something for everyone — ramen, rice, meats, you name it! I really enjoy their beef sashimi, the ponzu is nice and sour and there are tons of meat slices. It’s really raw(not seared on the outside) so you get the beefy and only beef taste, yum! I enjoyed as well their cold ramen, a lot better than G-Men or G-yo which are very close by, lots and lots of topping and the broth is sour and flavorful! Do NOT skip on dessert whatever you do. It’s flipping amazing. Toast cubes with ice cream, chocolate sauce and almonds? Fried ice cream inside a panko breaded bread? Panna cotta? Whoohooooooo, dessert heaven!!! I just got really excited… sorry. Go try it that’s what I’m saying.
