I’m shocked there aren’t more reviews for this place, because it’s amazing. Xinjiang food, with it’s lamb specialties, is hard to find, and this place does it right. The menu photos are a bit overwhelming, and the owner isn’t the friendliest guy, but you don’t go to this place for a 5 star restaurant experience. You go for the street food vibe, and that’s what you get. The«lamb pizza» is perfection wrapped in a doughy bun, and the hand pulled noodles are always a winner in my book. I just wish there was a little more meat in the noodles with beef dish. I’ll be back.

This place is often overlooked judging by the people that give it a quick glance before moving on to other food stands. Perhaps it’s because their menus look random and amateur. Perhaps it’s because they have about 50 items on their crowded menu. I’m not sure. However, don’t be fooled by the appearance. This place has one of the best made to order hand-pulled stretch noodles. I’ve sampled their fried noodles, lamb, beef and chicken dishes and their skewers and haven’t been disappointed. For those that are looking for halal foods they have that too which is rare for a fast food joint. A recommended place to check out if you are in the Richmond Public Market.

This place is delicious, it is halal, and it is authentic. Exactly like the Yang Rou Chuanr(Lamb Kababs) I used to eat in Beijing. The Pulled Hand Noodles are also excellent as are the lamb dumplings. I love going to this place. My only knock on it is the price. In Beijing, it is normal to have like 6 – 8 skewers a person and they cost about $ 0.30CAD. Here the cost is $ 3.50 so you obviously are not going to be having 8 skewers at that price. I can’t really blame them, given their limited turnover, but I think that $ 2 per skewer would be a fair price. Bring cash, they don’t take anything else.

* Xin Jiang style lamb specialist * Richmond Public Market has another winner! I love this food court. Xian cuisine( ) is a favourite for their rou jia mo(Xian style meat sandwich), and this place very nearby is another favourite for their Xin Jiang style cuisine. You have to just smile at the simple names for the food stalls here. Basically they take the region they are from, and add a phrase like«cuisine» or «delicious food.» Not big on marketing — which you can see pretty clearly if you check out Xin Jiang Delicious Food’s website. But I much prefer places like this that offer unique and well executed dishes, rather than a spot that markets subpar cooking nicely and dresses it up. Given the choice, I will always take food quality over market packaging! This stall specializes in lamb dishes. My favourite is the yang rou jia nang, which they call«Lamb Pizza» on the menu in English. It is a freshly made Xin Jiang style nan(made with sesame seeds, a nice not too crispy crust and a fluffy centre) stuffed with cumin and chili flavoured lamb. This is an amazing dish. The seasoning of the lamb combines with the freshly made bread to make this something I crave often. It is also very reasonably priced at just about $ 5.75 for a decent sized serving(enough for me for lunch). They have an incredible variety of things like: — BBQ lamb flank — Lamb bone soup — Lamb tripe soup — Capsicum lamb liver — BBQ lamb buns — Handcut lamb noodle soup — Braised lamb chops — and of course Xin Jiang style BBQ lamb skewers with the distinctive chili and cumin flavour Honestly the lamb skewers at The Place( ) are a bit better for my taste(juicier). But these are a very good rendition as well. But the yang rou jia nang is a winner, and one that will keep me returning over and over again! Oh, and it is halal, if that matters for you.
