Tiny sushi joint hits above its weight class. This little, unsuspecting restaurant practically in the middle of nowhere cranks out a lot of good sushi and Japanese staples. The restaurant itself probably can’t hold more than about 15 people. And, while we were there, we were one of only two couples there. But, what’s amazing is the amount of take-out business they have. Every 2 – 5 minutes, someone would come in to pick up and pay for a take-out order. On the counter, there was literally a mountain of bagged take-out orders ready for pickup. I’m guessing that this place might generate 75% of its revenue from take-out, based on my observations. We tried a tuna tataki salad, a ramen and a sushi platter. The food came out quickly, and tasted satisfactory. Bonus marks for great price and short wait time for food to arrive. Demerits for not so great follow-up service as the lone waitress was too preoccupied with fulfilling take-out orders to check on us and refill our tea. But, for the price, this place is pretty solid if you happen to be in this isolated part of Richmond. The locals living in the nearby townhouses are fortunate to have Village Sushi close by; a great consolation prize for having to live this far out in Richmond.

Small and cosy, this place serves good sushi at a very reasonable price. I had a great opportunity to enjoy the evening sun at the outside table. The service was excellent.

Very good price for decent sushi and sashimi. Nothing fancy but you can’t beat the price. Went there for dinner while I was visiting Richmond. The place is very small but feels authentic. We ordered chirashi bowl, salad and some sushi. In general, it’s good but not great. The sashimi pieces are OK. Soft, juicy and decent but definitely not impressive. Same goes for the sushi pieces. Fresh enough for the customers but sure not the best sushi you’ve had. For the salad, it’s a little disappointing. The sashimi pieces in the salad is way too soft so I kind of doubt its freshness. Maybe marinated too long? A few dark stained green leaves too. Of course, you can’t beta its price. Both chirashi bowl and sushi are with much better prices than other stores. And the phone kept ringing for takeout when we were there. So if you’re looking for some decent sushi with great price, like grab a fast lunch, this is your place to go. But if you’re looking for some superb sashimi with high quality, you probably will be disappointed.

This hidden Japanese sushi bar is very tiny. It is running by a small Japanese family with a husband, wife and daughter. They open every day except Sunday. Even though they open daily, they only operate from 11am to 2pm and 5pm to 8pm. My boyfriend and I ordered a dinner special combo with salad and miso soup. The miso soup was excellent! Each piece of the sushi was like bite size. The fish was fresh. Also we ordered tuna tataki and shimesaba(pickled mackerel). Oh my goodness! They were extraordinary. They melted in my mouth. The miso ramen had a special miso soup base that was unique that could not be found in Vancouver. The service was above average. The Japanese wife was running around to take care of customers who ordered take out and who ate in the restaurant. The prices of their food were reasonable. I would love to eat their food every day if possible!

For the price, it’s definitely 5 stars. It’s small, quaint, and far off the beaten track. In these late autumn times, the shop is easily missed driving along a dark evening. What I love most is that I feel like I’m getting home cooked japanese food. The miso ramen was delicious. The broth was a unique combination of red miso with a touch of ginger(I think). So good. The pickled mackerel was amazing. Everything was delicious and priced so cheaply. Basically the best sushi within several miles.

Great sushi. Love the Tuna Tataki salad. I would like a little more selection though. Maybe more hot dishes.

OMG this is my new favourite Japanese restaurant!!! It is sooo nice. I absolutely loved this place. I went there on a Tuesday night for dinner and it was literally just the two of us, and we chose to sit outside in the sun. And the owners are so nice. It is a Japanese couple. They are so sweet. The food was so delicious and so fresh! And it is cheap! I am definitely coming back again. :-D :-D :-D

Amazing! Not only was the sushi excellent(Trio Sushi Combo, Dynamite Rolls, and Chopped Scallop) but the service was amazing! My daughters wanted sushi and we saw this place on Unilocal.Highest rating in the Steveston area. It was a bit of a walk from Garry Point Park but looked very promising. Sadly we didn’t notice the time and when we arrived it was closed! It is open till 2pm for lunch and opens again at 5pm for supper. We showed up at 3:30. Obviously looking bummed, the waitress noticed and came out to confirm they were closed. We said thanks for letting us know and starting looking on Unilocal for the nearest alternative(which was 2 km away!). The waitress then came out and invited us in to order take out! What a class act! The price was right, the flavours exceptional(especially the scallops; the kids actually ate all the different types which was a first. They loved the dynamite rolls). The caring service put it over the top. If I could I would give Village Sushi Bar 10 stars!

Wonderful little blink and you miss it Sushi restaurant in Richmond, not in Steveston Village proper, but nearby. Very small and very casual, just a few seats in and a couple outside. Rolls are delicious, fresh and well put together. Some might find the rolls small but I’d rather have small with great quality than huge and gross. And affordable too. Japanese run, and really seem to know what they’re doing.

This quaint little, mom and pop type, sushi place is tucked away(like really tucked away) in the far corner of the Steveston Village area on No. 2 road. The service is quite fast and very friendly. While the menu is pretty basic and nothing out of the ordinary for a small community sushi place, the sushi here is not only cheap but very delicious. I tried out the miso ramen bowl this time around and was pleasantly surprised at how much depth and flavour the broth had. While the roasted pork was a bit dry, for $ 8.25, it definitely hit the spot. If you are expecting out of the world Japanese, go elsewhere. Instead come here for a quick bite that will be sure to satisfy your basic sushi urges for a very decent price.

So impressed! We did take out as were on our way to the ferry and the sushi was prepared within minutes. It tasted fresh and the rice was perfect. This is the most inexpensive place I’ve ever been to for sushi too! The place is small but so worth going. If I lived here I’d be coming on a regular basis.

I’ve been a regular here for several years, coming back for their consistently delicious sushi and pleasant service, all at very reasonable prices! In addition to its always fresh fish, this spot is awesome because it offers the option of subbing in brown rice for just a small additional cost. Even if you’re not avoiding white rice, the brown rice is a great choice to add a subtly nutty flavour to what would already been very well-seasoned sushi. Their salmon, tamago, and avocado rolls are some of my favourites. Though not a fancy place to go for a nice dinner, it’s a solid choice for a casual meal — the restaurant only seats about 16 and there’s not much ambiance to speak of, so some may prefer to order take-out. On a nice summer day, consider taking a spot on one of the few tables outside, or getting take-out and eating your meal on one of the picnic tables or benches along Richmond’s south dyke!

This place is great for take-out or dine-in. We fortunately live within walking distance of this place. The owners are very kind and courteous. They create great dishes, have very fresh fish. A great perk with this place is that they will serve your rolls or nigiri with brown rice! Check this place out — its great!
