Awesome thanks and props to my good friend Monica for helping me push yet another successful ladies night and for suggesting this establishment. I am all about the whole D.I.Y putting your own food together activity. I had fun picking and choosing my «fixings», all which were compatible with my current food restrictions. The prices are reasonable and come with complimentary white sticky rice and rice wraps. Don’t bother with the rice wraps… it’s tasted like rubbery parchment paper. Fill your bowl with mostly veggies and meet, skip the noodles as the restaurant provides free carbs and there is no point making your bowl expensive with more cheap carbs. I made an awesome plain grilled chicken, pineapple, coconut oil with green onions bowl. Key Lime cheesecake… skip. Who the fuck puts an Oreo cookie base on a key lime cheesecake? This lost points with me. There were some questionable items, however, for the most part I played it safe. Unlike a lot of people whom complained about their food being burned, my girlfriends and I were one of the few people there, therefore, they were just starting to heat the grill so we lucked out. The hostess was very awesome, friendly and sociable and the service enhanced the enjoyment of our mini ladies night. The restaurant was decent, lacking in ambience, however, you get what you come for. The bamboo chairs were uncomfortable and I felt as though I was sinking to the ground. I am short as is, any sorter and I would be an Umpa Lumpa. It got flooded on the busy scale at 6:30 pm and then immediately died down at 7:30 pm. It seemed as though they only have a 1 hour rush window. If you guess the price within $ 0.10 of actual value, your dish is free. I was off by $ 5. I loved playing the game so much I felt as though I was on the Price is Right… foodie style. I even started guessing the bowl of the dude behind me. The guessing game would’ve been better if it was hosted by Bob Barker and there was Plinko involved.

I love this place and have been coming here for years. I’ve never found it to be overpriced, and I am not a vegetarian. It’s not fair to complain about the way food tastes when YOU’RE the one seasoning it! The food in the buffet is kept very fresh and my dinner is always great. They have a nice selection of desserts, teas, and coffees as well. Highly recommend.

A place where you Pic your own raw ingredients from veggies, to seafood, to all kinds of meats and sauces, then take it to the chef and he’ll cook it for you? sounds like a plan. another cool part about it is if you guess the weight of your food i think within .10 cents you get it for free. nice! but im usually off by dollars so i don’t bother anymore. your stir fried food also comes with a bucket of rice and wraps on your table. overall my food was pretty tasty a little burnt but tasty nonetheless. so why only 3 stars? the price was a little steep. i could have made this my self at the fraction of the price. and it would taste better.(ooo that’s right i went there!) Restaurant is spacious, lots of parking, funny chef that cooks your food, ok service, good concept on food! give it a try :)

I recently visited the Mongolie Grill during my stay at the nearby La Quinta hotel. They charge by the kilo(my meal was $ 10.10), and offer free rice(your choice of brown or white) and rice paper. My food was slightly burnt, but edible. It was also quite tasteless. Obviously this was my fault for not seasoning it properly, but I wish they had better suggestions regarding oils and seasonings. I would only recommend this restaurant to a patron of La Quinta.

Came here with a few friends that have been meaning to try a Mongolian BBQ style restaurant — since Mongolie Grill is probably the most well-known, we decided to hit this Richmond branch. In short, you grab a metal bowl, walk down the buffet trough, fill it up with your selection of stir-fry veggies, sauces and meat(beef, chicken, lamb & bison), get it weighed and priced and the chef grills it up for you. It’s $ 2.59 per 100 grams(cheaper if you get veggies-only). I was careful not to overdo it(some of my friends bought $ 20 plates) — so my sub-500 gram plate came to $ 12. They also give you ‘free’ soup, rice and wraps to complement your stir-fry. If you guess the price within $ 0.10 of actual value, your dish is free. I was off by about $ 11 dollars — oh well. My friend missed her guess by $ 0.03. Not sure if I understand the appeal of this place — if my plate tastes bad, do I blame the cook, the restaurant for poor ingredients or myself for making bad selections? My plate was pretty so-so — for the same money, I rather leave it to the pros and get similar portions at a regular restaurant. For anybody that loads up to $ 20 into their bowl — there’s tons of AYCE places with better quality(and portions) at the same price. The interior is clean and there are tons of seats — but something about the whole process and the staff reminded me of Uncle Willy’s — but more expensive and less food. So it’s mediocre food at mediocre value. I guess you have to be in that state of mind where you want to pick your ingredients but too lazy to cook it yourself. Or you’re a 12-year old kid — and I’m not sure what you’re doing on Unilocal

There’s a reason there is ample parking because DPS parking is managing the facility. Don’t leave the parking lot or they will give you a ticket! After dinner I decided to take a 10 min stroll and check out the area. Who would have thunk that I would have gotten a ticket. BAM! I return and notice a ticket on the front windshield. The infraction stated: «WALKEDOFFPKGLOT». What is this? Hammer and Sickle meets Vancouver? I looked around for surveillance cameras and saw none — this meant there’s someone hiding somewhere looking out for customers that pull in. Ridiculous! Foodwise, I would give them about 2 stars. I put together some veggies and rice noodles with some garlic and soy sauce. The chef managed to burn the noodles. On top of that they charge you so much for the food at $ 19.43CAD/kg. Def not worth it. I know it’s not fair to harp on this but I think the parking situation is all apart of the whole dining experience. Let’s see how it would affect restaurant reviews if diners knew that they would get a parking ticket for stepping off their lot. To Mongolie Grill Management: I urge you to tell your landlord to back off with these parking tickets. It’s going to scare potential customers away.

This Mongolie Grill location is great since it provides ample parking in its lot and is much larger than its Vancouver location. The staff always come by quickly to bring you everything you need from wraps to rice and I’ve never had any issues here with half cooked food. The cook here has a great sense of humour often joking around with you or poking fun at you if you guess way off on the weight of the food. Like the other locations if you guess the weight within a certain proximity of the amount of food you picked you get your meal free.
