Came after a wedding in Vancouver with a group of 28(wedding party family and relatives). Had made reservations, so the a light special set menu was given(with fish, chicken, or beef as options). The food was okay, with the portions being very generous. However the service, especially with the large group all together, was quite slow. Even slow for me being pretty patient. One side of the table for their food and the rest had to wait an additional 20 minutes. This was though all the food was ordered together. This can be understandable but it seemed there was no mention to us or others at our table for why the wait was so varied. I would want to come back with a smaller group to see if the service is similar under more favourse less circumstances.

It is late noon that we did not have our lunch. So passing by the Golden Village, I drive slowly to see if there is any tea style quick lunch that I can get. I spot this restaurant and thinking that it is a Hong Kong style café. However when I open the doors, I found that it is a very nicely decorated café run by Chinese. I cannot imagine that there is such a nice restaurant in a Chinese street mall. There is a main floor and a half floor 2nd floor. It is covered with curtains all through the windows, hard wood floors, nice table cloth, worn iron staircase and many tea utensils decorated on shelves. The washroom is one of the best, clean and beautiful washrooms that I have experienced in a Chinese run café or restaurant. Most of the customers I see are enjoying their English tea set. However when I ask for the tea set for 2($ 32), it consists of about 5 ham and cheese pieces on top and another 5 pieces of cakes at bottom and 2 drinks. It doesn’t seem to fit our lunch purpose. So we decide to order the Club sandwich. It is toasted Panini with beacon, lettuce, ham, cheese and tomato. There is no egg in it. The side salad is amazingly delicious. The Iced Fruit & Flower Infusion is cool and good. The Iced Coffee is very good. I can see that this is a restaurant for someone who loves to spend at least an hour or so leisurely chatting with friends or read magazines provided to enjoy the atmosphere. It operates only from noon to 6 pm and dinner is by reservation only and minimum spending of CAD$ 600 If I come back to Vancouver again, I will definitely try their lunch menu which by the way is not expensive.

I went here one afternoon with my mom, not because we’d planned to, but we were just around the area and wanted some light snack. Upon entrance, the place was very elegant looking. Since Asian restaurants are not famous for excellent service, I was still kind of expecting to get some service here since the price is not inexpensive. I had the English Special for One, for $ 13. They give you three pastries/treats at random, and a drink of your choice. I had this taro cake, strawberry custard, and green tea pastry. I had a Swiss coffee drink, which was fine. The presentation was very cute and girly, in expensive looking china. My mom had meat pastry* for around $ 10. Overall, we paid $ 25 for the experience plus tips. The portions are quite small, and would not satisfy an average man’s appetite. I thought the experience of eating here is perfect for catching up with a friend(someone who’s girly or cutesy), since it’s better for intimate moments. It’s almost as if it’s a secret location since not that many people would pass by it. The restaurant itself was not too quiet, so I guess it’s quite popular with the Chinese community. The service was actually there! The female servers were polite and came by promptly and as requested. The ambience is the winner for this experience. They played classical music(in English too!), and had a really nice Victorian restroom. I recommend this place :)

This place had very nice décor, played classical music and used very expensive looking china. The teas were quite good but more expensive than other tea places. My vanilla decaf was 5.99 for the pot. My friend had milk tea for 8.99 the pot. Pros about this place were: quiet and nicely decorated place to chat with a good friend, delicious teas served with delicate china. Cons were: minimum charge of 5 $ per person, shop was so quiet that all the staff were staring at our table, teas were quite expensive, shop closed early(11pm). I would have rated 4 stars for this place because I don’t mind paying more for a good pot of tea and a nice atmosphere especially because I would usually come to this type of place for a good chat with friends. However, I had to deduct a point for the fact that this place closes early. I enjoy spending quality time with a good friend at the end of a day usually after dinner(~9pm) but since it closed so early compared to other tea shops in Richmond, we had to hurry ourselves to finish our big pots of teas.

Tuna waffle, Tuna waffle. What can I eat here, being a diabetic and not have to worry about getting hyperglycemic? Nothing. Not even the waffles which were very sweet. Aside from that, the place was very well decorated and the server was very friendly and calm. The whole place had an atmospher of quiet. It was Valentines day afterall and my date for tonight, was again, my Grandmother… Yeah yeah yeah. I know what you will say about that. But when she asked what I was doing that night her eyes lit up when I said we would go for dinner. How could you not say no? And besides, I’ve always wanted to come here. It’s a perfect date spot to impress the opposite side and show them that you do indeed have some kinda panache and good form. At first you may thinkg OMG the tea is expensive, but not really considering you get the china ware and a bit pot and the ambiance. Yes, I was wishing I was with a certain someone here tonight, but Grandma made a perfect date. I have to note. The bathroom is very nice. There are Asian Magazines to read and they also have lunch and dinner menus which are not priced out of this world. They seem reasonable. I will have to come here for dinner or lunch one day. I was also thinking I could take out the Shrew and teach some etiquette on how to drink tea, properly, the English way. Pinky up and hold the saucer. Cheerio! Oh, and funny how this is, but this place is actually an Asian place, not English, probably a design from Hong Kong. Whatever it is, it is nice and I’m sure the girls would love it and moreso if you Gents pay.(which you should). (Excuse my typos, it’s been a long day).

I have been this Tea Shop/Café long time ago. They reopened after renovation almost half year. It’s quite fancy and well decorated. I went there around 4 pm and 2⁄3 full in the café. We ordered 2 afternoon tea sets, it included special coffee and waffle. I had Royal Coffee with Brandy and Red Bean waffle. The coffee was ok but not hot enough. Red Bean waffle was presented fine but taste wasn’t good. They using nice tableware, still I don’t think it worth for $ 16 afternoon tea set, just a bit over-priced. If you like to find a place to chick chat, this coffee shop is great place in Richmond.
