Dick & Jane

This place has been my fave since I moved here in Markham. The staff has been very helpful. I’ve met 4 different ladies and they are all knowledgeable about their products, recommend some things you might like and their new products, and just super friendly.

I somewhat recall a scene in a movie where stewardesses were referenced as having imbalanced libidos due to their irregular hours, and constant shift in altitude. As beautiful as that sounds, I always believed it to be a folklore. I forgot about it, until recently when I found myself walking down this beautiful historical suburb with my stewardess friend. I didn’t even notice the storefront until I was halfway forced into the door by the strongest grasp that’s ever been bestowed upon me from a woman.
I work with make-​up artists regularly, and learning about their trade have given me a fear of the rituals of women in regards of the lengths some of them go through to simply appear in public. My visit to Dick & Jane forced me through a new threshold that has left me forever traumatized from simply getting a glimpse at what happens behind the doors which I sincerely wish had remained closed to me.
As the only man at the time in the store, I attempted to make eye contact with absolutely no one. I found the most inoffensive shelve to my archaic and conservative mind (the lubrication shelf), but soon started browsing at the completely foreign objects that struck my curiosity. There were fetish costumes, lingerie, oils from things I didn’t know you can squeeze oil from, toys that threatened my masculinity, and toys that completely perplexed my concept of reality. The selection was plenty, and I suppose the creativity of the products meant to fulfill the feminine needs were beyond anything I could ever conjure, even if I were given another lifetime. But I needn’t another lifetime, because the over eager lady working here have a deep working knowledge of all the products, and was able to help my stewardess friend with what seemed to be an unending list of inquiries into something I had no desire to learn about, but now consequently educated in. The conversation became uncomfortably explicit, and I was awakened to this business’ utter liberal attitude towards sex.
There were a million references thrown around about 50 Shades of Grey, and it became most mystifying when the conversation shifted to a pair of steel balls that are exactly the same steel balls used in the old computer mouses, only without the rubber outer shell. The manner of which they are used rocked my world, shook my faith in humanity, and made me suspicious of all women who walk with a smile on their faces apparently for no reason. No amount of sexual education and boutique parties (both this store hold on a regular basis) can tame me to the activities that the merchandise sold here are intended for, and I have lost my fetish towards stewardess, or any other overly sexualized professions in society.
As hypothetical woman, this place can serve as a great venue for a liberalized genre of education which helps normalize something that once was used to oppress women, and still used to that context in certain parts of the world, and we should be happy that can be something so casual in our society.
As a man – watching completely everyday women walk off the streets of this seemingly innocent neighbourhood and browse the floor like a grocery store – this is a place of deep shame and humiliation, and should never be visited under any circumstance.
There is a quote on the website by the late comedian George Burns: «I can remember when the air was clean and sex was dirty».
The irony of which should be a catalyst which causes the site to crash every time somebody read it.

Shh… Dick & Jane Romance Boutique’s storefront can be deceiving…
I almost think it is a lingerie store. a Sexy Lingerie store… But in fact it is an adult romance store owned and operated by female. So I should be really comfortable shopping here with no judgement. cough cough.
Dick & Jane also helds“educational” seminars for women only or couples, that offers your tips and alternative that would enhance your romance life.
