Sans prétention mais toujours fiable, surtout pour les viandes. Je viens de prendre la bavette de boeuf et elle était à la perfection.

Our waiter was pleasant and very efficient. Appetizers smoked salmon(good) Brie(below average) I had the blood sausage which was served with mashed potatoes and fresh turnip stripes and asparagus(very good) Duck over penna(below average) our other plate was just average. I had half a liter of French house red that was light fruity and decent($ 17.00) I would give this place one more try and see if I could find some better plates.

We stopped in on our most recent trip to Old Quebec and were very disappointed. We had a couple drinks at the bar which is very nice, and shared the calamari and Caesar salad, so far so good, then we made the mistake of ordering the pizza. We got two pizzas to go so we could watch NFL football in our hotel room. The pizzas were awful! Too much cheese and overly loaded with oregano, undercooked and not enough sauce. Avoid the pizza and it may be a fine place to eat.

While I was very offput by horse on the menu, the french onion soup was really good and hopefully HORSEFREE! Beer selection good and service was quick. I was amused by the chefs actually WEARING hats though. Maybe they hite them based on if they fit the hat? Kinda like Emerson and Lake replacing Palmer with Powell only due to the P name! And my cheese plate was referred to as «ASSFROMAGE» on the bill… hahahaha

A decent stop for a quick bite in tourist zone. My crêpe was over cooked but tasty. The fries were delicious and they have decent beer selection. Our waitress was incredible and kept a smile and was very pleasant despite being understaffed on a very busy day on the patio.

We stopped in on a lark and we were very pleased that we did. Great big portions at reasonable prices and very good food. It’s a good family friendly place with something for everyone. I really enjoyed the osso bucco far more than I thought I would. The gnocchi made the dish but it had very large tender pieces of veal and bone marrow(of course). The pizza was also good though there are probably better pizza places around. Service was friendly though the waiter disappeared a bit before we could get the check. Busy place. They spoke English well and were friendly to us. Only complaint is that one steak frites came out about 5 minutes after everyone else. But it was done perfectly medium and was a great deal at just $ 14.95. Fries were tasty. My take: Trust the reviews from the elites. This is a definite find in the midst of lots of places. Nothing gourmet but a very solid enjoyable dinner at a reasonable price. Yay.

R.U.D.E. RUDE staff. I dont understand… they are in a tourist area, they should be more welcoming. We are not a bad group. Food is not nearly worth the price. Easy to be lured in by the location and ambiance but we would have been better off to go across the street. I had the Penne aux legumes, mine had no flavor whatsoever. Others had chicken with cous cous which also had no flavor. The high point of the pizza was the pepperoni and it did not come sliced. ??? It was so tedious to use a fork and knife for an entire pizza. I did enjoy the iced tea, but I am from the south so the fact that it had an odd citrus sweetness was nice to me.

The waiters are rude, the food is sub par, and the service is terrible. I went in a group of 4 and they messed up my order. Instead of being honest and telling me, they just rushed to the back and placed an order for my steak frites while my group started eating. When I tried to confront them about it, they pretended not to speak English and told me in French that it was coming, when in reality they had just put in the order with the kitchen. …and for the icing on the cake, when we went to pay, they handed me the interac machine at the enter PIN screen, not allowing me to see the total. They had entered their own tip and didn’t let me see it. Stay away from this place, there’s many other options in the area.

Normally I hate ordering steak at places because I’m picky on a medium-rare(like it should be cooked to what I ordered), but the steak/fries(frites) $ 14.95 deal was too hard to pass up(a staple of Quebec cuisine) and it was cooked beautifully. The fries were crisp and the jus and salad on the side were well balanced. The atmosphere of the restaurant was wonderful — hip, contemporary and trendy. Waiter was very nice, courteous, social and fun. The chefs in the kitchen wore fedoras! All the staff looked fun and happy to be there. Contributed to a lively atmosphere. On my way out I noticed someone who ordered a French onion soup. I hope to go back to try the soup!

4 of us walked in off the street. We we’re early and they were able to seat us. The food was awesome it was just a guess stopping here. I had a swordfish with a lemon pepper mayonnaise that was to die for. My wife had a gravlax appetizer and some other thing I have no idea what it was but both were excellent 1 pasta Cabanero which is very good and an excellent calzone. Sugar pie, cappuccino and three crème brûlée for dessert. service was excellent– the place got very very busy with a line out the door. The chef came over and asked us how are food was. A perfect experience.

This is a really cute restaurant and the menu looked promising, so we went in. We were definitely not disappointed. The restaurant was modern looking with an interesting looking glass wine cellar near where we sat. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. We had: Mussels — delicious, my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed. Chicken with lemon couscous — very tasty Burger — My daughter enjoyed Bloody Caesar — very good The bathrooms were very clean and the service was good.

This restaurant has been very consistent for years… Used to be next to a hotel in Vieux Quebec, now it is located just a block up… closer to the Port St Jean. I had the moules et frites a volonte… All you can eat Mussels and Fries for $ 19.99. They were good. I had the white wine and onion sauce first… then the peppercorn sauce. The latter was delicious and creamy… the former was a light. Fries were not as crispy as I like them, but OK. My BF got the Steak frites. The steak was good… not Prime nor Choice cut by any means, but still good.

This place rocks! I ate several meals there and the food was quite good. Weary of restaurants with sub-mediocre food, I asked the guy at the change bureau next door for restaurant recommendations outside the tourist zone. He told me about Les Freres, I was a little hesitant since it is smack in the middle of the tourist area and I had a few bad meals already, but when he assured me that he eats there often, I decided to give it a try. For dinner I had the/mussels and french fries. and for lunch the osso buco. The mussels were great and the wine broth was delicious. The price was great– for 20 bucks all you can eat. The ambiance is great, during the day it is airy with lots of light and the window facing St Jean street. The evening hours, there is a cozy fun vibe to the place. The bartenders and waitstaff make you feel welcome.

Good food at a reasonable price within the old city walls. But, be careful ordering wine: we thought we were ordering a $ 24 bottle of vin nouveau that turned out to be $ 44. The waiter offered to correct the problem at his expense, but we declined. I would call this bait and switch. The sign on the wine rack that contained four different bottles of red wine and we ordered from listed prices: ¼ caraffe = $ 6.50, ½ caraffe = $ 12.00, .bottle $ 24. Okay, I’m a stupid Yank and thought these were«new» wines they were introducing to their patrons — the sign is very, very misleading. The steak frites were good and we left on good terms and a 15% gratuity. ‘Nuff said. JP O’Toole Hudson OH

Given there are dozens of restaurants along here with a good ambience I have rated this only on the food — the French Onion soup was bland and cold. Pizza was low average. Not recommended —

Not much to say about this place… other than it was fair. Had pasta and pizza. The pasta was meh and the pizza tasted okay, but was heavy. The waiter was the bright spot. Friendly and helpful.

My fiancé and I had been walking around inside Old Quebec City for a while, and we were starving when we happened upon this restaurant. As for food, my fiancé ordered a escargot and a rabbit dish. Being the boring non-experimental guy, I ordered the steak and fries. We both enjoyed our meals very much. Our dishes were tasty, and the portions were decent. Well, my steak was on the small side, but it did taste good. The waiter who was serving us was very friendly and attentive. All in all, dining at this place was a very positive experience. We would definitely go back to this restaurant again.

Quaint little bistro, featuring Steak Frites, Coq Au Vin, and heavenly thin crust pizzas! Located on the corner of Rue St. Jean, on the ground floor of Hotel du Vieux-Quebec(also a great find, and a great value). We’ve been patrons for a LONG time, beginning with our honeymoon some years ago. On that trip, I fell in love with olives because immediately after we were seated, our server brought a tureen of mixed olives, seasoned with herbs, garlic cloves and olive oil. They were a perfect compliment to our pizzas, salads, and wine. Years later, Les Frères de la côte still stands the test of time. Still a great spot to cozy up with your honey over a glass of wine and a good meal. TIP: try the Pissaladière Niçoise, a tart filled filled with carmelized onions, anchovy fillets, and black olives!
