Food is good, but only one cook translates into ½hr wait for everything but Popsicles and pop.

Great for Triathlon Training… Nice and Calm, Clean Lake, with a decent distance when you cross back and forth, or do a Triangular Route. Maps showing the Distances are available online at The Vancouver Open Water Swim Association(VOWSA) Website. Check under the Link for The Canada Day Challenge, which is held here at Sasamat Lake… Annually on July 1st. Link… If the Parking Lot is Full… Then you can Park on the Street. In that Case… Park down by the Dock, and just start your swim by going the other direction. 6 Lengths from White Pine Beach to the Floating Dock, and return is 3.8Km.

Sasamat Lake is a small/medium sized lake located in Port Moody. It has been a favourite lake for me when I was a kid. I spend hours making sand castles here. It actually has white sand on the beach, the lake is deep enough for swimming, and there are rainbow trout for the fisherman. It’s a great lake for people who enjoy water sports as you canoe without worrying about strong currents. This is also a floating dock which floats right across the lake which is rare for a dock. I haven’t seen a dock like it anywhere else in B.C. That’s where the fisherman do their rainbow trout fishing. The trout are all stocked and each year, hundreds of rainbow trout are released. I don’t know why rainbow trout are released at this Sasamat Lake because the fish have pretty much nothing to eat here. Fishing is usually difficult and the trout do not strike artificial lures, but always bait like shrimp or worms. Although the water is greenish coloured and clean, there is very little aquatic life. There is also a trail that runs around the lake. Parking can be difficult if you don’t arrive early in the morning. I’m giving it 3 stars only because it can get crowded very quickly.
