Scruples Salon & Spa

Been seeing Christina at Scruples for a couple of years, always very happy with the colour and cuts, she’s the only person I trust with my hair. Also love that they are an Aveda salon. Can be pricey, but you get what you pay for.

I recently moved to the Durham region from Toronto proper and wanted to find a salon that I could make my own, near to where I now live. The cut and colour here was just OK. The booking process left a sour taste in my mouth (I sent an email and when I didn’t get a response, I sent another and followed up with a call, and then was given attitude about it in person after I had paid my bill). Upon arrival they were very nice but then the other staff treated me as if I had never been in a salon before, made me feel very awkward and uncomfortable, giving me strange looks and sideways glances. I’m not sure why it was such a bother me being there (so sorry to have booked an appointment on perhaps one of your ‘off’ days!). Conversation was fine during both colour and cut. Bottom line, I’m back searching for a decent salon with nice, open people, oh, and who are a bit trendier with cuts.

I knocked them down a star because the lady I first spoke with did not leave me with a very good impression of the place, I almost gave up and booked somewhere else.
Had a 60 min facial which was really nice, they use all Aveda products which I love! The place looks like a converted old home, its really nice, warm and cozy. I would certainly go back to try other treatments and will update once I try them all!!!
In short its a nice «real» spa with reasonable prices and good facials…

Oh how I love Aveda products. I’ve been coming to this spa for years and have even seen it change hands but thankfully the service has remained a constant.
The spa services aren’t cheap here but the attention to detail and overall experience are second to none. I love their pedicures and there’s a fantastic view from where you’re seated but if there was one spa service I would recommend, it has got to be their Elemental Nature Facial… and go for the 90min session!
They don’t do an extraction facial but rather treat your skin with all the wonderful lotions and potions Aveda has to offer along with an arm, hand, lower leg and foot massage. Absolute heaven. They also have a check-​in offer for new clients so what have you got to lose?

Great salon, one stop shopping always very gentle with waxing and pedicures. My mom is disabled and they always come out to meet us everyone is very friendly the whole atmosphere is very calming. My only complaint is that if your hair is fine or you don’t grow a lot of it the wax is too gentle and won’t pull everything out. Still would fully recommend this place,
