Wilson’s Independent Grocers

An acceptable experience. Prices are fairly high compared to Walmart or Freshco, but this location is good for your basic groceries (margarine, bread, eggs, fruits and vegetables).

I’ve shopped at Wilson’s (formerly Roger’s) YIG for over 12 years. If anything, it has gotten worse in some areas.
At first glance things look quite good. Looking more closely you will find tired produce, missing pricing and so on.
Moving on to the bakery section you will find missing items, especially specials. And now and then expired goods.
Moving on to the meat department is when things really fall apart. Incorrect & slovenly meat cutting. Again missing & mislabelled specials. When they find a good product they’ll fail to keep it in stock & push the profitable stuff. Why they sell Johnsonville crap sausage excluding the the generally superior PC product line. (To their credit they carry Vitto’s sausage which i rather like.)
And the prices are not great — I can buy many things for less elsewhere.
The only thing they have going for them is proximity…

I really like this Independent Grocer! My family and I used to come here when we lived in the Hunt Club area, and even rented VHS movies for only a couple of bucks back in the day.
It sells all your major grocery needs, including fresh meats, deli meats, bread, produce, frozen foods, dairy, sauces, spices, snacks, and non-​perishables. The store isn’t the largest, nor the newest, but the prices have always been affordable, and the customer service has stayed friendly and helpful throughout the years.
