I really like Viva Italia! It’s much better than you would expect for a fast food Italian restaurant in a food court. It’s on the ground floor of the Rideau Centre, surrounded by more popular chain restaurants like New York Fries, Subway, KFC, and A&W. The food at Viva Italia is actually pretty good for Italian on the go, so I’d suggest giving it a try if you’re not in the mood for deep-fried greasy foods. Take note, though — I think they might charge for using debit. They have a few different kinds of pizza, lasagna, spaghetti, tortellini, other pasta dishes, and salads, as well as garlic bread. They usually have some sort of special deal going. I find that it’s usually a combo that includes either a pasta dish or big salad with meat as a main dish, and costs about $ 6 – 7. I’ve had their tortellini combo to-go almost every time I’ve eaten here. It includes Caesar salad, garlic bread, and cheese tortellini. They usually ask you if you want croutons, Parmesan cheese, and/or bacon bits on your salad, and what kind of sauce you want on your tortellini, creamy white or red with meat. I usually ask for white sauce with a little meat, just because I like Alfredo sauce more but I like to mix it with a little tomato sauce every now and then. They’re always willing to oblige and the guys that work there have always been fast and friendly, and give generous portions.
