Warning: DONOTBUY online from this shop — buyer beware. Looks like my experience is not unique, given the other review below. I ordered a light. which was listed as in stock on their site and kept waiting. and waiting. And finally called them and they said it was 8 weeks for them to get a shipment from Muuto. First of all that is not what their site said on shipping time for this product, it said it was in stock, so I thought they had a couple left in stock… but fine. I indicated to them that this was a light that was discontinued by Muuto, and she responded that 8 weeks was just their standard shipping time and that ok, she would reach out to them and get back to me asap. 24 hours later, no email, no call just a very abrupt email with a refund. So I called them back and said, what’s the deal yo. Turns out, I was right… it was discontinued and her excuse was that«They don’t tell us.» Well… it is your site, your business, you took my money, why did I have to reach out to YOU and tell you that it was discontinued? Would I have waited 8 weeks before you realized that it was not coming. or even longer? At what point would you have actually notified me or found out that it was discontinued or reached out to the manufacturer? She also had the worst attitude ever about it «We just received a huge shipment, I was busy.» Yes, well maybe you shouldn’t bite off more than you can chew if you can’t run an online business. Guess what — online businesses are different from having a shop. Customer service is quite possibly their LAST priority. They didn’t even do a make good on shipping for my other product(which after not buying a light should have been a lot less than what they charged for light + clock) and I had to prompt them on that. No joke, the worst feeling ever when the store cares less than 0 about their customers.

This store has nice things for sale but I ordered two stools back in October. The order confirmation said most products would ship within 5 – 6 weeks, but some may take up to 12 weeks. No other correspondence from the company, so follow up in December when no stools appear and am told i will have them early January. Here we are 15 weeks later in February, and I’m still waiting. Owner while responsive has excused the timeframe by claiming Christmas/New Year closures and that they say«12 weeks approx» which isn’t even the case. I wouldn’t waste your time ordering from this store online. I’ve asked for my money back.

Terribly overpriced. Make the drive to montreal or toronto to find similar styles of furniture and housewares for a fraction of the cost. Also, the staff was so unhelpful. Get off your laptop when a customer comes in and asks for help.

This is my go to place when looking for gifts for my mother. It is by no means inexpensive but they always have sleek, ultra modern items that can’t be found anywhere else. The staff is very knowledgeable and the shop has tons of stuff while still managing to appear uncluttered. This is definitely the place to shop when you want the ultimate conversation piece or when you purchase your new home and want to make it your own.

I’ve made a few purchases at The Modern Shop. The first time I went in there was during Christmas. I wasn’t sure what I wanted but the employee at the store was really helpful. I simply told her my budget, and an idea of what the gift receiver was like, and she came back with a handful of awesome gifts. They were a hit. The second time was a quick visit after seeing some cool products on their website. I decided to hit the site to pick something up for the office, and found this amazing candy jar with«QUAALUDES» written on it. It was a great addition to the office and we all had a laugh. While I haven’t yet purchased the furniture, I can definitely say that the small, unique items around the store make any unplanned visit really fun.
